had accident - not my fault.

result is long deep gash on finger. needed stitches and spent ALL day getting them - as sent elsewhere - though this is a town and not village and does have doctors here:mad::mad::mad:

    1. part of the gash couldn't be stitched - as too wide i'm told. they have done deep narrow bit - that was bleeding constantly. told me I will have permanent scar. oh no I won't I decided. so how do I treat that bit to ensure no scar? should I use honey? aloe vera? what? to ensure no scar.

    2. been told not to get it wet:cool: hello???? these days its not possible to have dressing on for a week and not get it wet - courtesy of our modern day regular showers. thoughts on modern ways of doing dressings that cope with our cleaner 21st century lives?

I use latex gloves - and if I've need tp immerse gloved hand in water I've sealed the wrist with insulating tape (because I've always got it to hand) removes a few hairs, but providea a waterproof seal.

Ouch! Well presumably if it is not your fault you didn't stick your finger in the blender to clean it out, then accidentally press the power on button...
    Like what I did
That bio oil is supposed to help but personally I don't mind the odd scar. They are badges of a life lived.. :D
Hope it is not hurting too much.

Ouch, sorry to hear that mitstm! If you can get to a pharmacy tomorrow, they sell things called finger stalls to put over dressings to keep them dry. They seemed to go off the market for a while a couple of years back(when I wanted one!) but I've noticed them back on sale now.

pineapple I bought some bio-oil to use on a scar on my arm where I had a (fortunately blameless) mole removed, but it's really hard to remember to keep putting it on regularly, especially when it's long-sleeve weather, so I don't :o

ouch!!!! pineapple. no - i am a VERY cautious little soul - so wouldn't be likely 2 do that.

    will check out bio oil.

i know i have reverted to being plain again now i am older:( - but still don't want scar. friend that caused accident is mortified i know. i had better leave contacting her for a few days - as i am still very upset about it - though i accept she is mortified and full of apologies. no-one has ever caused me an accident before - hence i am very upset and brandy and tissues now to hand. i have also had to have first injection since childhood - ie anti tetanus. note 2 others - it is possible 2 do it in a different way - that is lot less painful. they certainly weren't going 2 be allowed 2 do it the standard way. i think they realised that.

i think they realised i really do mean it when i said that i literally really wouldn't care if i just carried on bleeding and finito - as long as it wasn't painful. i have never cared whether i live or die - as long as i don't have any pain basically. hence the virtually pain free injection. they can think i am odd if they like for thinking that way:rotfl:i hate pain and illness with a passion. i have seen my family go through 6 shades of hell with it and back again and found it far 2 upsetting even as an observer - tho i do what i can 2 help them with theirs. my family are all dreadfully ill - with loads of killer stuff. hence personally i have the views i have.

I'm back wondering if it's time to leave the RBS... been here so many times before and end up not doing it because it panics the RV but I think one day that's going to go..
Set up another account with a safer bank and leave the transfers till another day. If things start to get hairy then do a transfer and as you already have the new account set up it will be so much easier.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

  • Sorry about your accident mtstm. When you want to shower, you could use cling film to cover the dressing , and/ or put hand in a plastic bag roomy enough to move your fingers inside, and secure cuff with an elastic band.
    Good luck!
  • I used vit E oil on my Caesar scar (emergency c section left me with a scar from navel to pubis, badly stitched so it ended up looking like a bootlace) I bought the capsules, opened them and rubbed it on, it made a massive improvement.

Scars don't worry me (fortunately since I have so many), but plastic surgeons recommend cica care scar treatment gel sheets. I'd only bother myself if the scar itself was so thick or twisted as to be painful.

I have a lovely scar on my head where as a child I thought I could fly. I still maintain I did, it was the landing that sucked.

Anyways, sorry to hear about your finger MTSTM.

I've just made a mental note to stay away from blenders
