That rather confirms my suspicions that I won't be going anywhere near a doctor re the acid reflux I've been having problems with recently. There's no point - whilst I'd land up in an argument with them if they tried proposing that idea (and I promptly told them there is a more modern acceptable alternative - the "Contac pill" size camera swallowed down the throat - and so that was my decision on what to do) and I'd probably end up heading out the door with them having done
MTSTM, the swallowed camera is of little use other than an internal viewing. Fair enough if you want to just take a peek at your innards. Unfortunately if you're heading for a gastroscopy, chances are you also need tissue biopsys, which can be done easily at the same time as the camera is down. If you swallow the pill camera, but end up needing a tissue biopsy, or polyps removed, you just have to go back and get the tube down. Far from being an outdated procedure, it's still the most effective and efficient for the job. A pill swallowed sees much less of the area than a skilled person with a scope. I've had 3 gastroscopys in the past few years, painless, thorough and efficient diagnostic procedures.
Incidentally, severe untreated refkux can result in Barretts oesophagus leading to oesophageal cancer, so I'd be getting it looked at.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I'd echo Softstuff's recommendation about getting reflux looked at (especially if you are/have been a drinker...). My dad has just been diagnosed with an inoperable oesophageal tumour (gastroscopy was necessary for taking the biopsies, as Softstuff points out). You may well be able to change your diet and reduce or prevent the reflex, but you do need to check that it hasn't already caused any damage.0

Having had several gastroscopies and a couple of colonoscopies over the last year, I can confirm exactly what Softstuff says. There are additional problems with the pill camera than can result in more invasive procedures, in addition locating an area of concern with a camera pill is almost impossible, resulting in an endoscopy (or two) to re-examine the digestive tract and actually locate the area that the camera pill has shown.
While I wouldn't do them for fun, they are straightforward procedures which I was happy to have without sedation (and will have the next lot the same way). I wouldn't say the same about the bowel prep for a colonoscopy, but that is identical for the camera pill.
Whereas I'd rather Daz wasn't having it done, because I'd rather they didn't have an underlying need for it. I hope the test effectively determines the problem and a course of action that resolves it.0 -

I like sedation, very happy not to be mentally present for the procedure. In fact, if I could be sedated for the whole colonoscopy bowel prep part, I'd like that too :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Bad night for the poor donkey. Never go out for nocturnal strolls without memorising the password for the night.
Oh, and the burglar fleece hat has just been found, so all is well with the world. All I need now is to locate my eye mask and swag bag and then I can go out tonight properly accessorised for some tea-leafery.It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
Don't forget the stripey top - very fashionable at the moment! It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

So is it watch this space and watch the SHTF with the global economy and see how it pans out, or do you have some thoughts on what might happen next??
Just listened to X22 report 890a and they are saying that EU interest rates could go down to -4%. If that were to happen I suspect that people will close their accounts. Hence the push for a ban on cash. In Switzerland when they tried to put even -0.1% on small deposits, the public pushed back and the banks added it to mortgage accounts instead, pushing mortgage rates up. All this goes to show that the banks have no one credible to lend to with the ability to repay, and so negative rates are not going to work.
Further out there will be even more problems in pension funds with unfunded liabilities climbing to the point that even those protected will have to face significant pension cuts. For those that have not retired yet there could be the possibility that they will not get a pension at all.
The global economy is back into a depression. All that the efforts of governments and central bankers have been to delay the inevitable. Globally there is insufficient demand to sustain the prices of goods and services, and assets as well. For the last few years China has expanded manufacturing capacity significantly and rebuilt its infrastructure so should benefit more quickly once the global economy recovers. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

I have a couple of grand in Barclay's.. Which I can I'll aford to not get my mitts on..
Think I will start withdrawing it out..
Do you think the UK will go down the -% deposit, or automatically start charging for bank accounts instead of it being an upgrade option??? To try and claw in more money to keep them stable??Work to live= not live to work0 -

Neither worried me, and the procedures are relatively quick. But sedation for the bowel prep should be mandatory IMO0
