Calm, damp and grey out there this morning. Found a ridge tile from the chicken shed sitting on the lawn when I went out to feed the girls, but there doesn't seem to be any great sogginess inside, so not much damage done overall. I'm not sure whether to try to stick it back on, or rig up a temporary covering; the whole roof needs replacing, but I was waiting for some warmer, drier weather before tackling that. It will depend on whether I can find a big enough tarp to throw over the whole thing & secure; that'd be easiest & quickest physically, but it's a 3-dimensional calculation and my brain runs away at the very thought!

I've taken to wearing a fleece hat originally bought for my OH. I find women's "One Size" hats are usually too small - either I can't get them on, or they squash my ears.

This one is a colour best described as "Smurf blue". It's a pull-on one and I look better in a hat with a small brim, but this one (a) doesn't blow away and (b) keeps my ears warm :D

He has never worn it - he feels it's a bit too blue and prefers a black "burglar hat" as modelled by GreyQueen.

I remember mum having scarves(Have I spelled that right?). They were silk or looked like it and sometimes cotton. I cant remember her ever wearing a hat.
When I worked with old photos there were often pictures of women with woolen type scarves too or shawls which I think must have doubled as scarves . I prefer a wool knitted hat. You can wear them under hoods which can make for a very warm cosy head and they can't come untied like a head scarf can.

On the subject of woolly hats, did you guys hear the nickname the British soldiers had for the Falkland Islanders? They all wore woolly hats like feeble minded Benny in Crossroads, so the soldiers referred to them as 'The Bennys'. :)

I'm supposed to be going out to Pilates... I've missed so much recently but the wind is howling again :(

    I don't know about Pilate's.

With the winds we've been having, you probably need a pilot :)

I almost threw those water kefir grains away, well how can anything so cheap be so good!! I was remembering the milk kefir potch. I looked up a recipe

    http://wellnessmama.com/2261/water-kefir-soda/

well that is easy, so went out in the rain to get a kilner jar. Its done, all of 5 minutes and I am not expecting stringy lumpy balls

It should contain these lovely bacteria
    http://www.culturesforhealth.com/water-kefir-grains-composition-bacteria-yeast

The bacteria I want for cholesterol is L plantarum, not in the water kefir but elsewhere

    http://www.probiotics-lovethatbug.com/examples-of-probiotics-in-foods-1.html

just eating some of these foods every day means that I will stop buying probiotics at a cost of £22 a month. I am so glad I have got that important mojo back, long may it continue

meto doesn`t have a weather warning now but winds look like being strong enough to be noisy again tonight. I had a full night last night, all the way through 7 hours, no loo, nothing and by golly I have had so much more energy today and still feel uplifted. Sleep, food and exercise are key and I don`t mean specific bopping about sort of exercise, just moving a lot in the day is exercise :)

You need a license to watch or record live broadcast TV, so that would be Sky. If you only watched on demand or catchup TV (basically online streaming such as Netflix, Iplayer or NowTV) then you wouldn't currently need a license - though there are plans afoot to change that.

I've no fancy for the "fresh" version, I certainly wouldn't be interested in the mesolithic version.
Though its interesting that the damage to Scandinavian tastebuds has been going on that long.
