The question is obviously "What is six multiplied by seven?"
    or
"What are the average number of brain cells in celebrity big brother?"
    "This site is addictive!"

I believe they are mutually exclusive, collectively or otherwise!

    So, the American blizzard.

Many states affected, millions told not to go out from Friday night through to Monday morning. The shops have been stripped bare..

    Would you cope?

To be honest, I would love an excuse not to go out over a weekend, I wouldn't need to rush out for anything either. But I don't know many, not on here obvs ;), who could say the same. Including the two very elderly people in my life, despite my nagging.

If we're wandering off into the surreal again, I regularly wonder whether dryads smell of dog pee.:rotfl:

I'm in the filing cabinet with Elaine's Grandad but am not in the least concerned what letter everyone else is filed under.

    Just do no harm ;)

  • American blizzard - would we cope? No problem! Mind you, our infrastructure's different over here anyway; not many of us live 10 miles from the nearest place you can buy food, and those who do tend to be well-prepared.

It'd be slightly harder for me if something were to go wrong with Mum, 26 miles away, but there are carers on site and she's less than half a mile from the nearest A&E department. Given a few hours warning, I can get down there by train if need be, which would be safer than driving.

I suspect that the people on this thread would cope considerably better than most. I could get by for several weeks without having to go outside if absolutely necessary, being able to cope with what was delivered automatically to the home like water and energy would be enough. I have plenty of dehydrated meal options to cope even if the food was repetitive after a few days.

In the areas affected by the blizzard they could simply melt snow if there was an issue with water supplies, as long as they have enough fuel. Though simply collecting it and bring it indoors in pans to melt would probably be sufficient without having to melt it on the hob. Though many here already have plenty of water in their stocks to get through that sort of issue.

A big factor could be boredom if snowed in for a long stretch, but being able to watch netflix or similar on a TV or mobile device would help a lot, though board games would be good if you have kids.

Much would depend on what else you would be lacking in the circumstances. It would be different for everyone as some make have no gas, water, power or mobile signal so that would impact what you could do.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
