eh 'eavens. I am very proud of my appearance and quite a smart person but I tell you if it's cold and wet I could not care less what I look like.
I struggle in my wellies nuatha. I've bad knees and by 'eck do they play havoc. I'm on a mission to find a decent all-rounder.0 -
I know exactly what headgear suits me GQ - though, being a shortie, the rest of my outfit has to be of the "simple and elegant" variety to go with it.

though.....goodness knows I look nothing like her - darn it! My mood would rise quite considerably if I did look like that:rotfl:.
I have yet to figure out how to keep that sort of arrangement in place on my head in the winds here though:cool:0 -
How about something like this?

I can't wear wellies at all, my useless left foot won't go in them. I actually sold my old wellies on ebay and was astounded to get seventy pounds for them!
Took Jax for his usual pm run in the park today (getting drenched in the process) and noticed that the little lake had loads of seagulls amongst the usual swans, ducks etc. Very odd, weather must be awful by the coast or are they coming in for food?
Edited because that sounded thoughtless when so many people are at the mercy of the weather and floods. Just meant that when the wildlife is moving things are really horrendous

As I mentioned Herself and MiL are Hampshire Hogs and I have other family still living in the county.
Currently my boots would be on terra muddier, I now have standing water on the garden, which is a first. Its seriously raining and we have another 5 or 6 days of the same forecast. My heart goes out to everyone affected no matter where they are.
I'm a few miles north of Mrs LW and have standing water in my drive. Mind you, that's because it's too compacted so is lower than the grass, and it needs a land drain down to the stream. But earlier today the front door was inaccessible, and the road outside my drive was about 30% covered.Oh, I always think if most people wear or do something in a certain neighbourhood, it's worth my while to consider why and probably copy.
Smart town boots mightn't have much waterproofing or a good enough tread to keep you upright in really greasy mud.
Walking boots are generally better than wellies but a faff to get on and off all the time - most people round here invest in decent neoprene-line wellies (otherwise they can be rather cold) or even leather ones as that's mostly what people wear on their feet Sept-April at least...0 -

If you ever get the chance, take my advice and go.
It's fantastic. Full of history, and packed with "touristy" places to visit.
Friedrichstraße is a shoppers paradise, and, part way along, is Checkpoint Charlie, where, for 2 Euros, you can pose with two guys dressed as border guards.
Also, if you have an old passport (preferably expiring on, or before, 9th November 1989), for 3 Euros, they'll stamp it with the Checkpoint Charlie Visa stamps.
Naturally, you must visit The Wall, preferably at the East Side Gallery, on Müllerstraße. There you will see, a 1.3km section of the wall, which is covered in mostly hand painted murals.
This is what the wall looked like, on the 9th November 2014, when they were preparing for the celebrations.
I've been to Antwerp. That's nice.0 -

Hmmm...quite like that one there with the rose on. Hmm...thanks.
Might be a bit more appropriate to Britain than what that Estonian woman is wearing (that was my bit of education for the day there thinking "Now where DOES that style come from?") and, judging by the photographers location - its Estonian.0 -

What I've got are a shorter version of these

Sheepskin lined and hook and eye laces to give a snug fit around the ankle. Which means my feet don't slip around in them the way they do with wellies. What I've got have decent deep treads and I've kept my footing in some ropey conditions lately - I did go over in mud deep enough that my arm was buried to mid forearm, but I only went over once and the damage was minimal (scratches). Lidl had something similar in a few weeks back. I bought those as I couldn't afford a new pair of my preferred walking boots at the time - I will replace my walking boots in the spring but the stable boots will be my preferred wet conditions boots unless I'm looking at serious miles.

Pity you weren't there for the 25th Anniversary.
That was an event and a half.
BTW. Did you visit the Möhne Dam, while you were out there?0 -
I normally wear hiking boots, mucker style boots and at the moment for general footwear I am wearing a boot that is a cross between a mucker and a snow boot.which is great for grip etc
After years of acky feet while wearing wellies, people were recommending argile natural rubber wellies, with anti fertique soles.. They were over £100. And I put of, and put off buying them. But treated myself at the malvern show in September. The minute I tried them on, I instantly could feel the difference.. I can now wear them all day, and think I am wearing my slippers lol..Work to live= not live to work0
