Flood defences, I received a link to this article in my email. Seems a far more sensible approach to me.

My OH is actually quite brazen about not answering to unexpected people/people he doesn't know. He actually opens the internal door to the porch looks through the glass at them and then shuts the door again and walks away lol.

Happened to me yesterday. The place was a tip and I was up to my elbows in soot and dust having been cleaning out the monstrous old woodburner when there was quite a forceful knock on the door.
Went into hiding and saw the shadow of someone peering in through the kitchen window. Didn't want anyone to catch me in my dishevilled state. Plus I'm avoiding the electoral roll occifers (who do come out at weekends) so I tiptoed upstairs with the dog. Don't know if they saw me. Couldn't see who it was so now I am tormented. Especially as I now realise it may well have been one of the elusive builders I've been trying to get round

Did I ever tell you about my camping experience in Heartbeat's Yorkshire?

Hmm yeah... was only the location of Greengrasses farm!:rotfl: We headed to Robin Hood's Bay quick sharpish.

It was mainly filmed in Goathland Mar dunno about the pub though as I last visited before I had children.

ALIBOBSY We pass through Croston often . Some years ago both myself and my eldest daughter considered buying houses there until it struck us that in even in summer there were always sandbags in evidence usually tucked around the side of houses and shops . My heart goes out to those poor people and all others having their lives wrecked yet again .
It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

There but for fortune go you and I.

Indeed and on a similar note some Hebden Bridge campaigners insist
that the destruction and poor management of the upland areas have contributed to their regular flooding.
It's not all about building a flippin wall.
