I shall be reviewing levels of stock this morning and making a list of what they need to be at then slowly adjust amounts and content until I feel it's right. I know we've the right equipment as I went through that just before Christmas when I was sorting out store rooms, sheds etc. I am also going to invest in more water storage containers and keep levels a bit higher than I have previously, it's the one area that might cause problems should we ever need to use the preps in earnest.0

Lyn I think you've been amongst friends who have had to deal with sudden problems and been such a support to those people, along with supporting your own family and dealing with your own grief for dear, dear Docky.
I think the New Year is a time of reflection, even if we don't actually process each thought consciously, I think an accumulation of personal life and the problems that we face in our own country will take it's toll.
On the plus side you're using it in the very best way possible... taking stock and assessing what you should do in order to get the equilibrium back to more acceptable levels. Hmmm wonder where I learned that behaviour from?0 -
Thank you small one!!! my world clicks back into place with your feet on the ground common sense, much obligedxxx0

I reported my ex husband twice as he was committing benefit fraud on a fairly massive scale, nothing was ever done, I assume my information was disregarded as I was seen as bitter, discarded wife.
I have another family member who can afford to smoke, drink, and spend £5000 on a holiday every year despite not working and living on benefit, I see no point in reporting this as it is all over FB on a regular basis.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
wonder if its standard practice for various government depts especially benefit depts to check facebook for discrepancies[/]
If people set their security settings properly they wouldn't be able to do this. My colleagues keep asking me why I'm not on FB. I am, and under my own name, but they can't find me.0 -
Also eating up all stores and stocktaking for new preps here. I still need to move on some more excess business stock before I'll have enough room to store sensible amounts of fuel, though.
Yesterday our river was well over its banks and starting to fill up the water-meadows; the "puddles" on the road are joining up to make lakes & the farmers are moving their stock away from the low-lying pastures. It's tipping down again this morning, yet there are no flood warnings in place for us here. Looking at the forecast for the week, it's rain, rain & more rain. Think my preps should probably involve buying loads more wood; not for fuel, but for building an ark!Angie - GC Aug25: £374.16/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
My prepping in the new year follows on from the floods up here last week and all the phone lines/cash machines going down. I'm now going to keep cash in the house. The decision is how much and where?
Re surveys, I guess the grubbyment know everything about me anyway, so if they're offering £5 or £10 for info they probably already have, that's ok with me.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Hold out for more money, Jazee! Your opinion is worth more than £5-£10.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Well said GQ.
I just took umbrage at the heavy handed threatening way the Census was conducted and at some of the (imo unnecessary and intrusive) questions. Plus the 'UK Census' is now a Eurostat affair rather than just UK and I have zero confidence in how our data is handled.
Pineapple will happily share her most intimate details with a stranger on the no 99 bus (whether they want to hear them or not) but if someone demands info with menaces - no chance. Whether it is for 'a good cause' or not

:rotfl::rotfl:same here Pineapple:rotfl:. I've been quite happy to take part in any conversation anyone wishes to initiate on bus journies here (by the time you have to stay put sitting on a bus for over an hour for something you've been used to walking to - you're more than happy to find a "chatter" sitting near you to help while away the journey:)).
What sort of questions were they asking Pineapple? I tried to find info on that re Google, but couldn't. What I'm guessing they ask is:
- what income level you have?
- what the source/s of that income is?
- perhaps how much use is made of the NHS (though I doubt they would ask the thing that would interest me on that - ie what you do about any shortfalls in NHS provision).
- don't know if they'd even ask re what use one makes of the rest of the Social Wage (eg public transport).
and then my mind went rather blank as to what else they would ask....
I rather doubt I'd even have the chance to have my say on just how much "supplementation" of the NHS even a relatively fit person has to do or how often a non car-owner tries to catch a bus or train (and can't - because there isn't one).
Can't say I think I'd have the chance for my "little say" on Improvements Needed..:cool:0
