I have just seen the launch of the Tesla X http://www.teslamotors.com/modelx and its bioweapon defence mode button. Apparently the air filters keep the interior cleaner than an operating theatre and so brilliant for those with hay fever. Shame about the price as it would make an excellent bug out vehicle.

I just came across someone in another thread talking about Izal paper. He said: 'The latter being the John Wayne of toilet paper... Tough as nails and takes no sh.......' :)

*shudders* did you have to mention sodding izal medicated?!

I am now mentally revisiting an earlier version of my life which involved being a small human being perched on the seat of an outside lavvy at school, the artic blast whistling across the playground and under the door, the spiders lurking above and only that blinking paper product to hand. Oh joy.........:rotfl:

I have fond memories of the sixties and seventies, in which chillblains seem to feature strongly. Don't think modern children are allowed to have those, but can't say they're missing much.

You think it was bad for you.

Can you imagine what an arctic blast does, to the male wedding tackle?

:D I've managed to clock up 5 decades without having to imagine anything of the sort, and won't be starting now, thank you muchly.

Mind you, I am left deeply disturbed by the packaging for a premium tp product - puppies on a roll?!:rotfl:

I was offline for a few weeks in August and spent most of Sept catching up on all the fabulous posts on this thread...

We've been busy berry picking over the past few weeks whenever the opportunity has presented itself. Our blackberries seem to be almost finished and elderberries won't be far behind. We have made various things crumble, jam, stewed etc. with apples & blackberries as well as the first big batch of elderberry syrup. More elderberries in the freezer for use in a few months. My kids love the elderberry syrup and it seems to keep bugs at bay when the weather gets colder. I thought I'd share the link in case anyone else wanted to try it... http://www.eatweeds.co.uk/elderberry-cordial-syrup

I keep looking at other berries (rowan, rose hips, hawthorn) and believe they can be picked and turned into syrups and jams but never having tried them before wonder if the result is worth the effort. Does anyone have any experience they can share?

    Thanks
