OH, our DS and I are all currently watching re-runs of Yes, Prime Minister, and have observed that there is probably a lot of truth behind the comedy. Shocking, really.
:) I believe insiders, esp insiders at the time, were nodding along in recognition.

Nargleblast, whenever I saw Dubya, I was irresistably reminded of the bit in Hitchikers which mentions that the purpose of the job of Galactic President was to distract attention from the people who really ruled. Dubya wasn't nearly so entertaining in this type of role as Zaphod.

My work peripherally involved me in that world - and yes, colleagues and I could have written episodes which would have fitted in perfectly....
  • Possibilities for HEGELIAN DIALECTIC

    1) Foreign cheese slightly stronger than Parmegiano Regiano.
    2) the telephone exchange in Hegelia
    3) a small hairy cow used in mountainous areas the image of highland cattle but the size of a Labrador.
    4) Initiation rites to the Hegelian Electricity Works that apprentices have to go through on becoming a Journeyman.
    5) The Association of Hegelian Watchmakers.

Many more if these aren't enough! Cor it's early for a brain the size of a grain of rice to be coming up with ideas!!!

You're on a roll this morning, Lyn!

Haven't taken my meds yet but I think the Hegelians need to have octagonal sectional nougat-chip chocolate, sold in long strips in cardboard wrappers, plus dodo-clocks.

These are like cuckoo-clocks but much rarer.

:T Great, I got that, post it on Wikedpedia immediately, their explanation was far too unweildy. I guess it's a variation of false flag attacks.

I am rather taken with the Breakaway Rebupblic of Hegelia as a concept, though, it'll have to take on a half-life in that soup of nonsense swirling where my little grey cells used to be.

You forgot "The History". Any good would-be breakaway republic has to have A History. "We wuz robbed" will do for a basic theme and then decide who those robbers were. Have commemorative events of long-lost totally forgotten little citizens-in-the-street because Its Important. etc etc.

You're in good form this morning Lyn! I suspect a certain little dog needing walks may have something to do with it?

GQ I noticed you had an omelette; I usually have cereal for breakfast, but yesterday I had scrambled eggs on toast, having read somewhere that protein at breakfast means one doesn't tend to eat so much later in the day. It seemed to work, I didn't feel the need to snack at all :T but not sure I could face cooked breakfast every day.

Though, when we're on holiday near the sea I often have a big breakfast and stuff my face all day! I blame the sea air :D

1Tonsil I hope the storm has been and gone and that you and the house are okay.
