I also do martial arts and we may just have found the spring of eternal youth. In my case I do Muay thai kickboxing with Greek Sensais who are young enough to be my grandson. Its full contact and done with training shoes kept on here in Greece. Its great fun and good for flexibility and stamina.
I also weight train three times a week and go for the odd power walk up the mountain near to my home. I love it and it has helped me through the serious problems with my thyroid in the last few years. I was 57 in September and feel nothing like that age, I feel it helps me stay young. I have friends who still compete in bodybuilding and powerlifting in their 70's.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
There is nothing remotely frail little old man about your hubby.
You could knock 30 years off for agility and 15/20 for age. And I still want to know what his secret is? If it's 6 hours of martial arts a week, then it's too late for me, I wouldn't have the energy to watch, never mind do it :rotfl:
Little old man thanks you, Annie! His secret is : the LUUUUURVE of a good woman!
I met him through martial arts, on an Aikido mat, but he kept going and I didn't, unfortunately, not with baby twins I did not have the energy to brush my teeth, let alone go to the Dojo! So I have lost it. Sometimes I think I would like to train again but feel that I would be invading his spacem this is now his thing away from the family. I do other workout stuff instead, but it is nowhere as effective.
2T great that you are still doing Martial arts, I wish I had kept it up! Amazing discipline, much more than just physical exercise. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Ah, Christmas. I'm working dayshift on Dec 24,25 this year. One of the other nurses is pregnant and has two small ones, so I said I'd do her days if she covers some time in January for me. Two happy nurses.
Then I've got to work Dec 27-Jan 1st nights. Not happy about that. The young ones just don't want to work holidays. Ah, well, New Years Eve, I try to celebrate. Last year I set up a buffet on the nursing station counter (nibbles, cheese, crackers, some chocolate) and brought in sparkling apple and pear juice. Then we invite any patients up (ours can all walk and talk). Last year we had one guy answer his phone with "Can't talk now, partying with the nurses" At least we gave him a fun night.
Haven't heard from my son who's travelling in Greece. He should be home Sunday.
I've started stocking up for Christmas, so I don't have to do a mad shop. The menu this year is Roulladen, red cabbage, spatzl, and a turkey breast. I can make the meat on the weekend and then the family just have to pop everything in the oven before I come home.0 -
oh that was sooo good
did anyone else start screaming at the telly when they just walked in there willy nilly tho..would have made much more sense to draw a few out at a time and block the yard off, clear it,repeat, then carry on..would have thinned the numbers a bit.Thoroughly enjoyed it even though the popcorn got launched in the air a couple of times :rotfl:

Wondercollie...I wouldn't worry about not hearing from your son in Greece, he will be out having the time of his life and enjoying this amazing weather..its still 28 in the shade with endless sunshine...unbelievable for this time of year and forecast for another ten days or so.
That Zombie picture nearly freaked me out....I might be a roughy toughy doing martial arts and weight training but I will not watch films with a horror theme or anything too violent lol. If there is one on tv I read or write on the computer while my OH watches the movie. They give me nightmares! At University for my degree we had to study Silence of the lambs and I had the heebie jeebies at night for a long time afterwards. Having said that, should the zombies ever attack I would have plenty of adrenalin spurring me into action..
Hope you all have a great weekend xxxx“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -

That was my thought as well, given that the undead are well stupid lol you could stand behind the fences/gates and make lots of noise then pick off alot with blunt instuments (save bullets) before actually venturing in to dangerous areas. Plus the old zombie coming around as you step over them was so obvious OH and DS had already said shouldn't you make sure all those lay on the floor are really dead as you go along lol. Still wouldn't have given them the chance to walk down scary half lit tunnels and all the jumps when the zombies appeared lol.
