Now news that Centrica are cutting 6,500 jobs :mad::mad:
The sad thing is that all of these workers will now be treated like dirt on IDS's jackboot service laughingly known as Job centre plus they will join the ranks of the "scroungers and skivvers" and have to queue at food banks.
It makes me wonder how many who thought that their jobs were safe, and who voted for the Tory cuts are now facing the same harsh treatment!
Anyone can lose their job, anyone can become disabled or too sick to work and now these same people will face the harsh reality of what Tory social reform means :mad::mad:Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

It is Varoufakis the ex finance minister who has been charged with high treason by four private citizens. It is now up to parliament whether to take him to the high court with the charges now. They seem to think that he was a threat to the country because he announced he had plans to bring in a parallel currency when it looked like we were coming out. Now it seems that he did it under the supervision of the prime minister , who gave him a mandate to do it. The pm now denies this, but Varoufakis has emails and documents to prove it.
Meanwhile, the IMF have said they definitely want no part in any bail out unless the EU accept the debt will have to be cut in order for it ever to be paid, and they have gone home from Greece from the talks.
Greek business is losing 2.8 billion a week since the cash controls came in. The prime minister is getting a lot of flack for going back on his promises of no more austerity, as they started cutting the pensions again this week and making pensioners pay six percent of their pensions for health care, when they have already paid in for at least forty five years.
There is no change being given at banks and the shops are desperate for it. It was like watching children raid piggy banks for their ration of sweeties today in the supermarket. The lady in front of me had thoughtfully counted out the change at home, then put it into rolls marked with the denominations of coins in them. A great idea I am going to start as well.
I went shopping during siesta so it would be quieter, and stocked up again. I am worried that I might use too much stock and not replace it, then be stuck should the banks and shops close suddenly without warning. I am expecting us to crash out of the euro with little notice. I think the government we have now may be resigning by Monday of next week, and a much more militant crowd will get in who are anti euro and anti european bailout.
The ideal would be for Varoufakis to get elected as prime minister and then we will see the fur fly. I still think he would be a great leader, but the dirty games might see him heading off in another direction. Most likely back to America where he had a great job teaching at the university.
I do feel anxious about the future, but I dont feel depressed or anything. Best of all, I feel prepared for whatever it brings to us. This thread has helped me so much to get ready for it happening. What worries me is the number of head in the sand folks who are oblivious to what is going on all over the world. They are the first ones who are going to be knocking on the door asking for help and food when the SHTF. I just cant help feeling it will hit the fan here first, then the rest of the world will get splattered:eek:0 -
At the moment, none of the old boys who were responsible for this mess have been charged, none of the ones in parliament that is....0

We returned home early from Normandy last Friday afternoon - as soon as the news announced that the blockages were being taken down, we loaded our car and left whilst was the going was good as the news "the farmers were taking further action later today"
Eurotunnel allowed us to change our booking from Saturday night to Friday afternoon for a small fee
Felt so sorry for the miles of lorries and their drivers parked up waiting to cross as it looked like they had been there for days
. . . . and very sorry for the lorry drivers in France approaching Eurotunnel as the migrants are very determined and any vehicle is fair game.:heartpuls The best things in life aren't things :heartpuls

Why not put that money into savings and then you can access it if needed or after a period of time use it as another lump off the mortgage?
Didn't think of that! Duh. I live on a farm and I would really like to be able to spend more time at home with my son.
Part time would be an option with no mortgageI have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

Double benefit time of "cultivate the garden" if you have one.
a. You are growing food - which will help the food bills
b. It's a way to help cope mentally with the way you are being treated/even worse way you will doubtless soon be treated.
Working for a Civil Service type job does tend to mean that if they want to get redundancies - then their very first thought will be "Oh heck...that will cost SO much money. We had better make their lives very VERY unpleasant indeed and put enormous pressure on them that they will hate the job so much they will 'leave of their own free will' and then we don't have to pay them anything".
So - bargain for being deliberately put through hell at work - as they try their hardest to make life (very) unpleasant for you there. You need mental resources to help keep you strong to cope with the Make Life Hell policy - and gardening is one good way to help you "stay strong" mentally. Others are music/countryside/walks - you will doubtless think of others.
Also get out and as far away from the place as possible during lunchbreaks (do NOT stay in the building and assume you will at least be left alone in peace at lunchtime). Learn to put up a good strong mental barrier around your mind/emotions the second you walk out the door each day and try to totally forget the job as far as possible, apart from arranging to be there again at "start of work time" the next workday. Blank it...blank it...blank it when you are out of the place.
This is the tack they are taking atm. Where i worked happily for 16 years amalgamated (read taken over) with 2 other government dept. I feel like they are actually trying to prevent you from doing the job we are actually paid with all the paperwork, triplication and bureaucracy.
Luckily I still have my van and work out in woods 60% of the time.I have dyslexia, so get used to my spelling and grammarMortgage pay off date 11/2028. Target 12/2020 :rotfl:

Its surprising just how many people give way to that sort of mental pressure and DO "resign of their own free will" (apparently;)).
Mygawd - some of the stuff that came into my possession to read;) was a positive revelation:eek:.
Quite a few nearer retirement age have already left, before it got this bad.

Very popular game, Shaft the Workers. Make a loss, and they sack staff. Make a hefty profit and they still sack staff. Can't win, can we?One life - your life - live it!0
