I found the Guardian online to be a very fair source of news in a very dirty game....At the moment the French are really supporting Greece. I would not be surprised to hear that Germany are leaving the euro within months or weeks....
Would there actually be a Euro without Germany?
I think we're in for some interesting times... I found 1T's comment about the EU refusing Camoron's attempts to renegotiate our membership interesting, too; I'd kind of forgotten all about it & assumed things were quietly going forward in the background. Now I realise that that's what TPTB wanted me to think...Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -

Actually, the finance minister has resigned so he can bring in a plan to arrest the big boys responsible for the mess we are in.......he is a war games strategist, one of the best in the world, besides an economist. First thing this morning they started things in motion...including stopping all access to money, gold and jewellery in safety deposit boxes until the folks who own them can prove the contents are legally owned by them and tax has been paid on the cash and the money that bought them....
The leader of the opposition has resigned and they have told him he will be arrested if he tries to leave the country. The lady who has taken over from him is next...its been revealed she has five hundred million dollars in a US account...as well as the same amount in euros in another.
Meanwhile...have a look at this... https://www.fbi.gov/washingtondc/press-releases/2015/deutsche-banks-london-subsidiary-agrees-to-plead-guilty-in-connection-with-long-running-manipulation-of-libor
Germany is in huge trouble financially...they have called a session of the EU parliament to see who can help and what the rules are on driving Greece out if they dont want to leave......watch this space....:rotfl:
That would make sense for the finance minister to be reserving his time/energy for arresting the "big boys" if that is the case. Lets hope its so and they manage to get them. (Hmmm....I can see a few British "big boys" resting very uneasily in their beds if that is the case - and they manage it:cool:).
Pondering what the mechanisms would be and how well they would work to check out if tax has been paid on stashed money etc. Good if they CAN manage to do that obviously. Not sure what the Greek equivalent would be of HMRC's having access to peoples Tesco points record - so that they can see whether people are spending on champagne, when ostensibly only earning beer level money.
More to the point might be checking out whether their houses seem to be worth a lot more than their ostensible earnings would cover (cue for people sitting behind computer screens following the Greek equivalent of RightMove and wondering how come someone has a £1 million house when they are only declaring an income sufficient for a £200,000 house...).
This could be interesting....
Hmmm...now trying to follow the respective thinking on why the Germans/other Europeans? might want to "drive Greece out" on the one hand v. "keep them in" on the other hand.
My head hurts trying to follow all the possible permutations on this...0 -
This is a weird one about Cameron.....what is he thinking?http://rt.com/uk/271864-srebrenica-massacre-cameron-funds/?utm_source=browser&utm_medium=aplication_chrome&utm_campaign=chrome
As for Greece.... I am no fan of the Telegraph....but this one echoes what I think is happening right now.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/economics/11720907/Greece-creditors-will-gain-nothing-from-toppling-Europe-lover-Yanis-Varoufakis.html0 -
Think the Greek people deserve a round of applause :T, hope its short term pain for long term gain. I guess most Greeks think things are horrible as they are and at least this way there is the hope of some improvement down the line as opposed to unending debt servitude.
Anyone else getting more and more sick of the bias, B.S spun for the sheeple carp in the main stream media recently. So many things have become "accepted facts" when if you look beyond the mainstream they are a load of rot.
For example everyone knows we are overpopulated and numbers are rising fast, too fast for ev1 to be fed right? Wrong. In fact although pop. figure are still rising the rate of growth is falling fast. Within most of our lifetimes pop. growth is expected to level off and then start to fall.
Another simulair oft trotted out fact is that we need to increase food production or people will stave?
The fact is we already produce more than the current world population needs and people are still starving. High levels of wastage as well as wrong stuff being grown in the wrong place and things such as the use of feed crops for bio fuel are messing things up.
The millennium institute says even on current figures world production of calories is double the amount needed to feed the pop. as is. In other words the planet could feed 14 billion around 2500 cals a day each. But of course in some societies people are consuming and wasting far more than their share. Upping production and the use of GM crops simple increases monetisation and control of agriculture by the large corporations and the government.
Look at our own country food waste is around 1/3 loss in the production chain i.e farm to store and ANOTHER 1/3 in our homes.
That is a huge amount, billions of tonnes every year.
Plus the current gov. propaganda machine trying to make it look like we are "at war" with some mass evil group of terrorists, when in fact there are a number of groups and the biggest recruitment tool they have is the coalition's mass indiscriminate bombing and crazy inteference in the middle east. Not to mention the fact that this country alone STILL sells arms to countries admitted even by themselves to be "dangerous". A few examples we are still selling arms to? Russia, Libya, Iran, Sri Lanka et al
Great article from last summer here about this http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jul/23/britain-champion-democracy-arms-trade-tyrants-russia
Looking on alt media sites it also seems to be accepted that the coalition are supplying food and weapons drops to ISIL to keep the war rumbling on. The US have finally admitted one or perhaps more coalition drops fell into terrorist hands, so either we have incompetant forces or they are telling porkies.

Might these be equivalent?0 -
I have to admit I take little on face value from any site, and tend to look for more info and actually there are statements out there from iraq officials regarding this. But even if you dismiss all that even the mainstream media has featured stories of terrorist with coalition weapons on them and admits some drops have gone to the wrong side.
This story is not just something being chatted about on forums it is reported by a number of alternative news sites.
BUT I am not trying to convince anyone of the truth just offering the info thats out there. After years of reading and looking at western gov's with a more and more cynical eye I have come to my conclusions about who tells/reports the truth.
But its always subjective lol.

This is quite an old article, but interesting nonetheless:

TBH, the only benefit I see in the single currency is, I can travel through France, the Netherlands and Belgium, into Germany (and of course, back again) without having to worry, that I've brought enough of each country's currency.0
