  • The scary thing about snow in the Eastern US is that we usually cop it after a couple of weeks  note to self to get more coal asap.
Thankfully I have finished Christmas preps and I have good stocks of dried milk and tinned foods, plus the kelly kettle, camping stove, a bioethanol stove and a kettle bbq, if we are cut off, but our road is regularly used by the gritters and fire brigade so we are always gritted

It might be worth putting a bet on a white Christmas.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.
  • GREENBEE you now own a Sunnan Lamp! For anyone thinking of getting one they are currently on sale at £10 and not the £17.99 they have been at so it might be a bargain if you can get to an Ikea.

I have hundreds of geese going over me flying due south. I wonder if they know something we don't... or if the American thing is affecting them up in Iceland. But hundreds of them.

:) Dunno where they're intending to overwinter, Mar, but I'm several hundred miles south of you and they've been flying over us for a couple of weeks now, single flights. I do sometimes see the sky full of them, a dozen 'V's at the same time, but not thus far this year. It's an amazing sight, I love it.

Pest control bookings have been going gangbusters these past 3 weeks as vermin move indoors.

Oh, and Wild Thing, the cat who is nominally owned by my parents but who lives outdoors from March onwards, spent her first part-night indoors last week. It may be getting colder as she would much rather be in the garden and just come in to eat. She's not at all unfriendly, just loves being outside unless it's baltic.

She's a deadringer for a Norwegian Forest Cat, but smaller, some kinda mongrel. Her sister The Queen of Sheba seems to be a mongrel Burmese and hates anything under 65 degrees. Talk about chalk and cheese, one won't come in and one won't go out.......:rotfl:

Clearly you are concerned about the vampire apocalypse. Though are vampires afraid of bees or perennials? ;)

MrsLW do you happen to know if this is an offer and if so when it ends? I've been wanting to add a couple of these to our preps and whilst they are reduced seems a good time to do it.

Hi peeps not been here for a while. Have my Sunnam lamp after MrsLW advice a while go, candles, powdered milk, packet soups. Gas cannisters for stove in stock, just short on loo rolls. I checked all my preps when they started going on about a big freeze. Just off for Hubs meds so thats a month sorted, they wont give out extra fentanyl patches as they are restricted - how anyone could do away with themselves using patches I dont know - maybe stick them all over themselves :o. I do try and get his script 3 days early so I have an extra patch.

Honey in cupboard and lemons in the freezer, ibuprofen and paracetomol stocked up too. Plenty of salt. Have I covered everything?
