GREENBEE you now own a Sunnan Lamp! For anyone thinking of getting one they are currently on sale at £10 and not the £17.99 they have been at so it might be a bargain if you can get to an Ikea.

Thank you SO much Mrs LW. I'm off for work on Sunday, back Wednesday (no jet lag this time thankfully) so PM me the days/times that work for you and I'll check my work diary!

Pest control bookings have been going gangbusters these past 3 weeks as vermin move indoors.

I've just found out that some have moved in with me. I thought I had elephants in the attic... turns out they are clearly clog-dancing mice who are making forays into the kitchen. I need to put out some of that nice blue food for them - but first I have to work out where they are and where to put it. Living in a semi-building site makes managing vermin even more difficult than normal.

That's what you get, for storing your luggage up there. :D

    Hi,All,
Just finished my first short course on Futurelearn! Really enjoyed it, so thanks to those who put me onto them.
Wore a trainer for just under an hour yesterday, physio says I'm doing well but I had to reach for the pain killers again.
Getting there slowly........very slowly:rotfl:I'm aiming to be walking properly by the end of March. Maybe still with a stick - but walking:j

  • Hi all, sorry not replying earlier but am staying with DD1 for a concert tomorrow and her laptop has been refusing to talk to me all day. The Sunnan lamps were just marked down to £10, not an offer but what they sometimes do if the product is going from the shop. No indication that this is the case at all but the mark down was hand written and the original price crossed out in both locations the lamps were at. There were quite a lot of lamps left in the store I was in, so it might be worth taking advantage of the price just in case the model is being changed or phased out.

It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

GQ I just happen to have chocolate in stock for Christmas gifts but if push turns to shove.....

I popped in Mr A today and got a chocolate orange - phew! Thank goodness you reminded me.

Ginnyknit, you'd be surprised what some do with those patches. My Grandmother in law managed once to accidentally overdose on some sort of pain relief patch.... she was high as a kite for a little while, the come down was quite atrocious though.

Don't mention pest control to me. Bloody cockroaches. Seems like there are some battles here that only a flamethrower could win. This year we paid extra to have a 6 month pest spray as opposed to just the annual one included in our fees. Granted there seem to be less of the little sods, but frankly 1 is too many. They come in from the garden. Some of them fly, you hear them hitting the windows at night....

  • Hi all, haven't had time to catch up on the thread but saw this that I thought was interesting about life in ISIS occupied Mosul:

It has some similarities with Selco's accounts of survival in Bosnia, was it?
The snowstorms in the US look pretty scary, it's only the gulf stream that keeps us out of sub-arctic weather as I understand it. Brrr...
