I conefss to having bought 6 cans of dehydrated chicken a couple of years ago with a shelf life of 25 years it wasn't cheap! Can you do meat on a dehydrator or does it not dry properlyDebt free as of 29.10.2020 🎉😁

From my research into the subject it is the fat that is the problem. Chicken has less fat if you exclude the skin so should dehydrate well. Though if there were total power outages a dehydrator becomes useless. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

I haven't tried meat,I know there are websites that show you how to do beef jerky.i have dried fruit and veg and the chilli peppers (for the parrot).i have the Excalibur,if you spread a kg bag of peas on one shelf you will be amazed what size they shrink to.0 -

It would become useless in a power cut,I have lots of Kilmer jars with different veg in them. Its handy when I am cooking something In the slow cooker, just a spoonful of various veg chucked in saves a lot of time.0 -

looove Simon's Cat so true!! I showed the Cat Man Do clip to people in the office and those who had cats or liked them were falling about in hysterics and the rest were going 'whaaa?'It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I do like your idea of keeping the dried food in Kilner jars for long term storage. How long do they generally last in the jars? It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -
I am looking at the idea of getting a solar dehydrator, which eliminates the power problem. I think having both options is probably the best overall. When it is sunny use the solar dehydrator otherwise the electrical variety.
You can make one Frugalsod, my Grandmother in law has and hers works very well.
