Our village got water meters installed everywhere last year, we'd already had ours put in and it has saved us quite a lot of outlay. You do have to remember that you're metered though, particularly when gardens need watering in the summer. We fill barrels and use watering cans to only use what's needed rather than use the hose.0

Am I the only person on the planet who never uses spices at all? Apart from the odd wee shake of pepper and cinnamon with honey on toast?0

The cheaper my menu plan got, the more I got into herbs and spices. For me they can turn a very cheap set of ingredients into an interesting meal. There's a lot of foodstuffs I'd give up before them. I guess though it depends on the cuisine you're into, we enjoy Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Italian, Turkish and quite a bit of Indian food. I find there's a lot of what you might call "peasant" dishes, which have cheap ingredients aside from bits of various spices. We could have rather a lot of chickpea curries for the price of one lot of meat and two veg.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Been a bad few days. Wrote a long "woe is me"post earlier on and lost it (aren't you glad:rotfl:) but feel better for writing it down.
Bad infection in foot and leg so megadoses of antibiotics but on the up now so back out of the wheelchair and onto crutches again.
Thank goodnesss for effective medication. I fear the day when these drugs no longer work.
Sadly, we have had to have our old labrador put to sleep. No choice. Mainly what the long post was about. All distraught.
In a SHTF situation I would have liked that 40kilo dog in our house on our side doing his best to stay on guard. He was our early warning system and would bark before the doorbell even rang. A wonderful family dog. House feels empty without him.
Never again..... till the next time. Not dim.....just living in soft focus
