Quite right kittie.:T
The date is there on our "return ticket" as you say. I would put it as (just my personal pov) we all have several possible "return dates" on that "return ticket" and, at some level, we decide which one to take.
I've gone through a couple of those possible "return dates" personally and thought "Nah...not yet" and rejected them(I could have died at age 21 in a fire but it wasn't to be, so I wasn't there in the circumstances which could have killed me/did kill some people). The second possible "return date" was I had the option to die from serious illness...but again I thought "Nah...not yet" and rejected it. My personal pov is very much to effect we all decide at each possible "return date" as to whether "we should or shouldn't take up the option given".
Put like that = why worry? What will be will be...0 -

too right. I 100% agree :T0 -
We were all sentenced to death, 9 months before we were born.
It's not a question of if we will die, but rather when.0 -
in my line of work, I have an African buyer, that comes over here every few weeks to buy stock.. he called with us today.. he is from Ghana
I spoke to him about Ebola, first of all he said he didn't know anything about it, but then, he opened up, and said at the moment it is not in Ghana, He was saying that the general chat on the street in Africa is that it all started with an American pharmicutical company doing experiments to try and find a vaccine... so they infected some people...
Now I am taking this with a huge pinch of salt... He did say about screening, and also he is thinking of staying here for longer, as he does think if it starts spreading to other African countries, there might be a ban on people traveling if they have been in an effected country/area...
I managed not to shake his hand, until the very end ...as it was a natural instinctive thing to do after doing business with someone.. as soon as he walked through the door out came the anti bac gel...
I am also looking at this situation from a business point of view as well.. potentially if this carries on much longer.. and sanctions are put into place...Work to live= not live to work0 -

I suspect that the rumours are why it has been so hard to quarantine. Though considering the lies that governments have told over the last decade I can understand why to a small extent.
As for the anti bacterial hand wash did you burn all the office furniture as well? It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

Thanks for sharing.
It certainly seems to fit in with what I've read else where:(:eek:0 -
I deal with bodily fluids day in and day out. I guess I am in a higher risk category than most but, although I admit to keeping my eye on this, I can't prep any more than to make sure I learn how to protect myself and reduce the risks etc
Staying indoors isn't an option for us.0 -
surely there is a bigger risk of us dying from flu, or the nasty stomach bug / food poisoning i had earlier in the week (believe me I checked the Ebola symptoms - especially as i had passed through London not 12 hours earlier ) or being hit by a bus, or heading out on a road in our car, or having a tree fall on us... or or or ...
I don't think I can post the Banksy cartoon because of copyright but essentially it showed a rather fat man, fag in mouth, burger in one hand, pint in the other - with statistics about the massive death rate of all three and him panicking about Ebola.
In the words of Jonesy (and Chris Martin)

Panic makes any situation worse! Firstly Ebola isn't here yet, secondly we all have common sense and will certainly not take any risks we don't have to. Before we all scare ourselves too much we know that vigorous hand washing breaks the virus and renders it uncatchable so that's what we'll do and also keep an eye on the news and the newspapers and take any precautions that make sense. No need to think of locking ourselves in and waiting it out or rushing out to panic buy years worth of provisions. It IS a scary prospect and it is not something to make light of or not take seriously but until there is a known problem in the UK I think life as normal but with caution is probably the best way forward.
I'd like to think Blitz Spirit would kick in but in all likelihood it would be every man for himself, so keeping low profile as preppers is a common sense precaution. Don't be obvious about what you are buying and don't give the impression that you are in a better position than all the panicers stay quiet, stay safe but above all stay level, it's not here yet.0 -
Another lurker here
I have always tried to take a sensible approach to preparations and in my mind I plan for a month of being unable to get out the house. That means I always have a full store cupboard, medical supplies, animal essentials and a sensible stock of candles and other items. One thing I am lapse on which is vitally important is water but as hubby says where we live it is always raining!
However I agree with what others have said, yes it is important to be prepared for difficult times however you still need to live day to day, it is all about having a healthy and sensible balance.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0
