A well known modern day disinfectant brand (lavender aroma) leaves a fishy smell in a commode, in my opinion  I guess the manufacturers and marketeers that make odours appealing are barking up the wrong tree if you are all ones to go by :rotfl:
Old wooden bureau's. I did think my grandma had the only lovely smelling bureau until I recently opened a lady's to dust inside and wham, my grandma's bureau came on back to me. Lovely.0 -
The sense of smell is very evocative, can take you right back. I like a lot of things mentioned here inc hot tarmac and jeyes fluid. Also like the scent of pine trees in the hot sun and gorse flowers, which smell like coconut., which reminds me of the heaths and copses where I used to roam about as a kid.
And sawdust; I like the smell of sawdust.
Professional perfumiers would just throw their hands up in despair at us lot, hey? Although I detest some odours manufactured for washing powders and other cleaning products and feel ill in that part of the supermarket.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Synthetic smells are just the worst sometimes. Air fresheners to me are a waste of money. I like an open window really, although at Christmas I have been known to heat orange juice and cinnamon in the SC. I haven't done that for years, must do it this year - add a bit ginger etc.
Apparently a struck match is a very good way of ridding of bathroom smells.0 -
Catching up as usual
We had awful weather here too so stormy and wet but we were so fortunate not to lose our power, although many homes in N/Ireland did lose theirs. I love the smell of Dove soap and have enjoyed reading all the posts about certain smells of soaps etc.
I also remember the wee sachets of Silverkin (sp) lemon and lime shampoo way back in 1969/1970 I had just left school in 1969 and was allowed to keep £1 a week from my pay packet as a machinist, and would head to the local chemist after work on a Friday to buy some. Does anyone remember the little barrels of Linco beer shampoo? KI loved the smell of it too.:) wee trip down memory lane so thank you for starting it

Yes Fuddle I also hate the smell of air fresheners. I open my windows before I would spend money on them. I went to our newly opened Lidl earlier in the week and we enjoyed going around it. Our shopping bill was very much reduced. Facing it is the big Tesco store where I worked for 7 years, so I think it will do damage to them and we also have a local Super Value near where we live and they might take a hit too. I am determined I will not shop in our local Super Value, any longer for anything. We would pick up odds and ends in it since we moved here 4 years ago in December. I have lost count of how many times I have to ask for a receipt from the cashier and have been over charged often, and now I put on my glasses and read the receipt before I leave the shop. Yesterday I was overcharged for the very last time! Stay safe all and have a nice weekendDo a little kindness every day.;)0

Hi margaret you worked in the tescos i go to lol on the roundabout!!!! I too went to the new lidls last week its handy for mum and me as the other one was more out of the way. Talking about smells again i remember reading somewhere a while back that kate moss has a love of the smell of petrol and was trying to introduce into her perfume a smell? Particle ? Aroma? Whatever its called that belongs to the petrol family. Now im not stupid in thinking she was going to put 4 star in a bottle a sell it so what "bit" is it i wonder that she will put in?C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater
