When my old girlfriend's computer was doing something similar, it turned out that it was set for an American keyboard.

I believe certain symbols are in different places to UK ones.

Is that a possibility, as didn't you say the other day you had to reinstall everything?

I will second this as being a likelihood. I have had the same thing happen to me.

I can see an extinct one from here - usually its just part of the landscape ... but makes me wonder what it would have been like when the darn thing was active (that is before the last Ice- Age so not any time recent BTW)

    Glad it's not active........

On the upside - I wouldn't need to put any heating on

(I live in shadow of said extinct volcano - in case anyone wondered :p)

  • Seagulls? we live on the coast and we do have a few but I don't hear them at all and they're only obvious when they come across the gardens in the winter if someone has put out food . Isn't that odd???

I tried altering the keyboard language but that did not work to solve the problem, then did umpteen things that HP support suggested. No luck. Finally, they suggested turning it off, taking the battery out then putting it back in again and it worked! Great joy! I guess it was the technical form of giving it a good thump LOL.

Now it has worked I can go swimming for the day:D

Had a dream last night about terrible weather and natural events in two countries, one coloured red on a map and one coloured black. In my dream it was so bad that I had to be woken from the dream not to see it. Scary stuff. So glad it was only a dream, but it left me shaken.

:p I think they're past due for a re-branding as Inland Gulls. Would you like some of mine? I always used to have happy associations with the sound of seagulls, as in childhood memories of seaside trips, but I've spent so long listening to them screaming around my flat (and over the allotment) that I hate the sound of them.

Righty, heading out to said allotment now, have a fair few things to do, inc retrieveing some volunteer spuds from a bed of something else. They grew from left-behind mini spuds, most like, but you can usually get enough from one of them for a meal-for-one. These ones weren't accessible due to having grown in another crop, but now I can get my paws on them, and I shall.

Waste not, want not. Toodle-pip, old fruits, catch ya laters. GQ xx

Alternatively, if it's a Laptop/Notebook, you could've accidentally turned on Number Lock

I was forever doing with my Asus Netbook.

We live 70 miles from the nearest coast and we have loads of seagulls here :(

Forgive my utter selfishness, but you are welcome to them. :)

I was standing in the middle of the Cheviot caldera when a geography teacher pointed out that an extinct volcano was merely one that hadn't gone off in a long time, not one that couldn't go off, and the biggest problem with extinct volcanoes was that everyone forgot this, so no one monitored changes in extinct volcanoes. Soufrière Hills volcano on the island of Montserrat was believed to be extinct.

Not that I want any of ours to be waking up. The local weather forecasting system is if you can't see Cheviot its raining, if you can see Cheviot its going to rain. I live near enough that it would be an issue - though I have pondered the advantages of geothermal power.

For future reference, with wireless keyboards, always check the battery first, it saves a lot of grief since that is the usual cause of problems.

Gulls are a pain in the !!!!! and also magpies.. noisey s@ds

When the US and the Uk had the terror attacks a few years back, I really did go into panic mode, I would not go into our nearest city for a very long time, and when I did I was so paranoid, I went to the main shop I needed to go to, and then went. I am not so bad now that time has gone passed, and nothing more has happened in the uk, BUT with the news that more and more extremists going to certain parts of the world, being involved in these terrible acts. I am now concerned and over a matter of time these types of barbaric actions will start happening over here..either with the British extremist coming back into the country, or if they are not allowed to travel to certain countries, then they will start doing something here...

YES I KNOW... my imagination is running wild, BUT.. in this day and age nothing can ever be ruled out anymore...

I am sure I read somewhere, that the us are going to do air strikes somewhere, there is going to be more sanctions on Russia if they don't remove their trucks etc..

  • CTC you can't be to vigilant, and you can't not live your life just in case. I always keep my eyes wide open and my wits about me when I'm in a big shopping area and check out the nearest exits even back ways out of shops if I'm there. I'm not frightened of it but aware of the potential for something to kick off at a seconds notice. I know we're not immune here inthe UK and I just make sure I'm always very careful. Live life fully pet, but don't take your eye off the ball for a microsecond while you're living it!!!
