I guess weather prediction is a very difficult thing to do and there are so many variables and sudden changes to throw into the mix that it must of neccessity be possibilities rather than probabilities in all those forecasts. I can only say that if some of our kind and considerate members are prepared to post potential problems from known sources I for one am immensely grateful for the heads up, whatever the potential problem is. To have the option to make preparations for bad and disruptive happenings weatherwise is a much better thing in my mind than being caught out with no forewarnings. It's better to know, act and not have problems than to be oblivious and if that weather event doesn't actually materialise, I've got what I need for the next inevitable one and am ahead of the game anyway. THANK YOU 1T and KITTIE for being considerate enough to put the alerts out, keep them coming please, they're very much needed, Lyn xxx.0

I don't know, but I have seen a fair amount of criticism for his wrong forecasts just lately. The ones I usually post are from amateurs, mostly friends of mine
My question wasn't a criticism of you 2/1Tonsil/s or your weather posts – but of Piers Corbyn and his general approach to 'forecasting' (and climate).
It's only just over 2 weeks since the Express published his 'hottest UK August for 300 years' prediction – but, as maryb has posted, it now seems “He's backtracking and saying he would have been right but for Bertha” - i.e. his 'forecast' was correct but the weather changed...!?0 -

I know someone mentioned here a few (lots) of pages back that health & safety was being relaxed in nuclear power stations but with the govbermentt closing traditional power stations down and the uncertainty over gas supplies, me is thinking power cuts are a certainty rather than a possibility. I NEED more candles
.
Make your own candles in kilner jars, if stuck for a wick, put in a good size ready shop bought candle, cut down if needed and melt the wax in a double burner or two pans and fill in the edges until all full then you have a many hundred hours candle
The top is useful for dust and when it is used just heat in the oven on a low heat to get the last of the wax out and fill up again0 -

No worries, I didn't take it as criticism at all thank you. I have just seen an alert for high winds for the UK for Sunday and MOnday, but don't have the details yet.
I have also seen the European prediction maps and it has the UK and most of Europe (including Greece ) between -1 and -4 degrees. That is extremely cold for here and it is likely we will have oil shortages, so I am glad I made plans to stock up on fire wood and buy some more thermals. It looks like I am going to need them. The ones they sell in Lidl are fantastic, I think they are made for skiing but we wear them under trousers and jumpers in the winter, especially for riding the scooter.
Have just seen a breaking news alert about some illegal immigrants being found in a container at a port in the UK. Many of them are ill and have been put into quarantine and some of them are already dead.I am sorry I don't have a link to the story yet.0 -
