elona - wish the news was different.

On practical fronts; if the news means down-sizing, do it but do not rush. It is important that where you move to is somewhere you can be happy long-term.

And hugs for DDs; they sound wonderful young women.

More reasons to get it paid off Asap so the bank have nothing to do with my house...!! I'm assuming they can't steal it if you own it outright??.

Everything tied down...again....with better twine this time, chiminea cover made, whirly-gig taken down as last time it was on it's side.

A friend has been round and I was discussing this thread etc.....he asked me if I thought Armageddon was imminent and if I had plans to build an underground bunker when I said I wanted to go to the Army Navy store for survival stuff.

I then asked him when there is no food, leccy, gas etc where he would be turning up for some food.....lol......as I might be bonkers...but I will be a fed bonkers.

Got another 3 bags of pasta in today, and some chiminea long lasting logss, they weren't cheap, but they are for emergency use , don't need weathering, and last for 2 hrs.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

Re TB, as recently as last year I worked in a GP surgery which specialises in uni students. Many of them come from TB high-risk countries (Asia, Africa, China, India etc) and despite their papers they must undergo testing. You wouldn't believe how many don't attend, change their numbers or leave uni before we can find them - no wonder TB rates are rising so fast! :(

  • I don't know if this has already been mentioned but on BBC News E D F have temporary closed two power stations. This is for approx 8 weeks. I know someone mentioned here a few (lots) of pages back that health & safety was being relaxed in nuclear power stations but with the govbermentt closing traditional power stations down and the uncertainty over gas supplies, me is thinking power cuts are a certainty rather than a possibility. I NEED more candles :p .

I'll see your egg butties and raise with 8 sweated onion, tomato, garlic mayo, grated smoked cheese & bacon butties.

I fancied something different and got a wee bit carried away.

Prepping covers many eventualities. I would think homelessness is a higher risk for many with sky high rents and stagnant wages. So by prepping and cutting living costs can make these risks lower.

Prepping for winter will reduce the impact of a cold winter on your home and bills. A burst pipe can cost a fortune and many might not think that lagging pipes is a form of prepping.

Stocking up on food will cover you for any problems like a bread shortage or potato blight causing a shortage of spuds. I will admit to having very little pasta in the house as I make my pasta from flour and eggs so really am not fully prepped until I get some chickens and a bunker of their own.

Having an alternative to cooking should there be gas supply problems is another form of prepping.

I don't know, but I have seen a fair amount of criticism for his wrong forecasts just lately. The ones I usually post are from amateurs, mostly friends of mine

He's backtracking and saying he would have been right but for Bertha.

Ummm... shouldn't he have been able to forecast Bertha?
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
