This week pineapple got some news about the thing on her chin
The blemish that she thought was nothing, then something, that the GP thought was nothing and the consultant thought was something, turned out to be... nothing :D

  • Steamed pudding to use as a carb source with a stew? You might have to put the pudding basin into a lidded casserole and put that with the boiling water in into the wonderbag. Would that work do you think?

I am a long-term lurker on this and other threads in Old Style.

I know a number of you were concerned about HSCIC and the collection of care data from NHS records and were planning to opt out.

I have just found something which I think is different although I haven't read enough about it yet but thought I would give you the heads up. It is called General Practice Extraction Service (GPES). The GPES project will allow for the extraction of medical data from patient records in order to enhance patient care. The bit I have read says that the data is confidential and cannot be identified. However, it also says that "In most cases, the information extracted by GPES will not reveal an individual's identity" (My bolding and italics.)

It is being carried out by HSCIC which is the group that were involved in care data so whether this is the same by another name or whether it is something different I don't know

Here is the link to the info http://www.hscic.gov.uk/gpes

If anyone finds out any more perhaps they will post up what they find.

Has he got buildings insurance? I would have thought they ought to pay for finding leaks.

They should do one free repair during your time in the property. And actually, they are frequently wrong. I was told several times there was a leak on my property, but it was a shared supply and they usually ended up locating it a long way away. Do you know a plumber who could advise him?

My friends Son in Law works for AW so we're waiting for a call to see what he says. It's so unfair on the bloke as it's turning into the Money Pit and I expect him to turn into Tom Hanks any time soon.

While on the subject of TV licences do you get a discount if partially sighted?

  • I've just cut out my wonderbag! I had a remnant of 100% cotton furnishing grade material in my store and it's made a circle 40 inches across and enough to make the lid too. I'll have to get up to Dunelm Mill as they do a beanbag top up of polystyrene beds for £7.99 which should be big enough to stuff the sections with. I have a smaller Chasseur casserole which will definately fit and a larger le creuset one which I hope will fit, certainly the round middle section is cut to the size of that. I've looked at a few you tube videos on making and using a wonderbag and am so looking forward to having a go when it's finished.

If you're classified as severely partially sighted or registered blind then you get a reduction,

Perhaps some of the recipes here might appeal:

Or google for haybox cooking recipes - the earlier incarnation of the magic bag!

:T Glad your blemish was an innocent blemish after all, pineapple. Just goes to show that even the medically qualified can have differences of opinion and be flat-out wrong.

:( I went to my allotmentino this afternoon and guess what? Yup, the shed has been done over AGAIN. Which makes it three times in two months for that shed and another attack on the bike shed at the flats in the same period.

As on the two previous occasions, the burgers levered the outside plank off my lottie shed's tongue-and-groove door and looked in and decided it wasn't worth busting off the internal lock which is mounted on the horizonatal brace. Each time they do this, they bust up the door further. I have tacked it together again with panel pins, so it will come apart easily the next time they do it, and stuck gaffer tape on the inside over the splintered bits.

I wasn't upset, just a bit exasperated. I called the Police but they won't be able to come until tomorrow so I just enjoyed the lovely weather and chiselled away at the Feral Strawberry Bed. Have mattock, will wield it with extreme prejudice.

:p Have had a call this evening from my Computer Wizard to ask if I was OK? It was a bit of a poor connection (he's half all of half a mile up the road) but it seems that his kid had hand, foot and mouth disease. The Wiz caught it, didn't know, arrived at mine in the pre-symptom state and got proper poorly the next day. He's in quarantine at his flat and concerned and apologetic that I may have caught it from him.

I assured him I'm feeling fine thus far, but it can take 5-7 days to incubate and he was here Tues night, so we'll have to see what happens. If I develop the rash either tomorrow or by Monday morning, I shall have to let my employer know and see if they want me in the office with a virus or not. I have dubbed him Plague Mary on the phone, and will be pulling his leg something chronic. I have asked for pix of the rash to be emailed to me (it appears on hands and feet - mostly). Sadly no visuals yet, lol.....:rotfl:

I always knew there were good reasons to avoid children, apart from the screechiness of them. Germs, they have germs, I tell thee.

All in all, a bit of an odd day. I don't know why that surprises me, as daft things tend to happen in my immediate orbit. And I was reading a bit about pandemics as the call came in about the virus, how odd is that?!
