Whilst I don't necessarily disagree with everything you say, I do disagree with this - I thought we lived in a free country where people had choice over what to spend their money on and how their children are educated. Additionally you can't take it out on the kids what their parents choose to do - and this is from someone who would not want to send their child to private school, but I do respect the choices of those that do.

I can fully appreciate that but the alternative is that they are barred from voting on services that they themselves are not willing to use. It could get to the extreme where a party full of privately educated MP's has the power to demolish an education system because it will not impact them. That was why I felt that they had to have some "skin in the game."
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

 Check this out - Cyprus 2.0

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-03-20/ukraine-goes-cyprus-20-tax-deposits-over-100000-hryvnia-appease-imf

FYI, 1000, 000 hryvnia is £58,631.96 at time of posting.

Apparently this will encourage consumer spending?! Yeah, on extra-thick mattresses with those oh-so-handy secret pockets.

    Thank you :)

I'd guessed bail-out bag, but "wonderbag" had me beat. Should we start calling the beanbag which we've used during the last 8 winters to keep the kettles which we boil on top of the woodburner hot enough for cups of coffee and the washing up a "wonderbag" then?

BTW, I have this thread bookmarked, but when I go to it, it opens at page one and that vexes me greatly. Can some kind soul please tell me how might I persuade it to open at the latest page?

And BTW again, I like the Daily Wail. Neither of us reads it, but it's very good for lighting the fire

:( Windows XP is not receiving support after 8th April.

Reading this, it's a lot more serious than civilians using it on their home PCs.

Blinking hole-in-the-wall machines are using it - there's potential for fun and games, and not in a good way.........

Si you can subscribe to a thread but it's a bit hit and miss. I rebookmark every time I close the page and then delete the old bookmark
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

I open it at Page 1 and click on the green banner under the main heading with the blue 'post reply' button, where it says 'View First Unread'. It usually gets me back to the right place. I scroll back to the previous post to check it's one I've read.
