Preparedness for when

Friends did this back at the end of the 80's. Charging was an oil barrel windmill. Originally the plan was a radio and 12v caravan lighting. Over the years the windmill was improved, the battery pool was extended and additional gadgets (a 12V fridge and a 24V microwave among others) were added.
The battery pool were ex-car batteries sourced from scrapyards. Failure rate was between 5-10% with quite a few batteries staying in the pool for 15+ years.
In 2005 a mains connection was put into the building and the windmill and batteries retired.
What started as 4 or 6 car batteries became about 60. Problems included keeping them dry and safe. eventually they ended up in racks made from scaffold poles - part of the safety regime was regular testing, which means keeping them accessible.

But I hope Putin reins in this nutter.
Russia can turn US to radioactive ash - Kremlin-backed journalist | Reuters
We don't need talk like that.
In the article it says
Kiselyov was named by President Vladimir Putin in December as the head of a new state news agency whose task will be to portray Russia in the best possible light.
So that would be a fail then.0 -
Craigy did you have time to do any fruit cuttings in the end?? I found out loganberries can be bent over and tip rooted too (I usually just move a clump) I suppose it makes sense as they're a blackberry hybrid after all.Well done on the seed sowing success!
I'm soo behind this year but finally have little signs of life.
GQ oh what wonderful news for you, hope the screwdriver did the trick! You deserve a stiff drink after that.
My lot are all arriving downstairs for TWD and my connection is awful tonight anyway so will catch up properly in the morning
Hi, yes the only things I did take cuttings of we're black currants and raspberries, the bc I took 2of and one has started to bud which is a promising sign the other one is not as strong looking but still shows signs of life I hoping for extra bc this year as really want to make and freeze, think it was Lynn said I could freeze it black currant cordial. I always seem to yield about 8 to 10 jars from my bushes I already have jam that is lol i forgot to say what it was, also have 6 from last year and .2 massive containers in one of the freezers of berries. My raspberries are onto their fifth or sixth year they never fail me they are really big already so here's hoping for a big amount again this year. I think I might have plums this year from tree as its also grew like crazy. I can live in hope.xxxC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinaterI dont suffer from insanity....I enjoy every minute of it!!.:)

Would anyone mind if I lined up bailiffs along side politicians to give as offerings to the fire gods? Not that they have threatened me but they have brought someone I love dearly to their knees today.
My cat had a tick on it the other day, as blood suckers go I prefer the one that was on my cat!!

PS Stronghold (the new flea stuff) does not work on ticks
If a dog or cat had a tick I used to put a blob/small squirt of good quality washing up liquid on the tick... this would cause an air lock, so the tick could not breath and let go... and then I used to pull the begger off...and I used to plop into a small container of washing up liquid.. so it would die..lol..Work to live= not live to work0 -

I have absolutely no problem with a bacon butty or angel delight, but never will my lips suffer a Findus crispy pancake. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

Great info thanks for that.
Can someone tell me if it's true that four of the top car manufacturers were on the missing plane, I can't find anything in the news.
