Blimey I think I'm more in shock that people have to lock their doors. I've never even thought about it here or the windows although they all have locks.
I often go to bed and forget to lock the back door too *embarrassed smiley as my smilies aren't working!*0 -
I'm paranoid about locking doors, I have to have them locked even when I'm here, the only time they aren't is if we are working in the garden and can actually see the back door, the front one is permanently kept locked as we have no sight through the house to the front. The only crimes I've ever heard of in the village since we've been here are opportunist walk ins when folks are careless or distraction crimes where one person keeps you talking at the front door and someone else sneaks in the back way so it makes total sense to me to keep us locked and secure. I ALWAYS lock the back door if I have to answer the doorbell, wouldn't consider doing enything else.0

We have a front porch, which would be locked and the keys are in the locked inner door so they would have a job. I guess the alternative, for those without such an arrangement, would simply be to have one key in the lock.I wanna be in the room where it happens0

Last week I mentioned that my next door neighbour is building an extension.
Today he is putting in new drains for an en-suite, and I see he has a circular inspection pit ready to go in. I just had an advert for this pop up on the side of Zerohedge:
http://www.drainage-systems-online.co.uk/acatalog/Domestic_Sewage_Pumping_Station.html?gclid=CMiJ7I3hkb0CFcuWtAodjgEAAA
Now I certainly haven't been looking at those items. Presumably my neighbour's and my IP addresses are so similar that Google thinks I have.
I wouldn't know, I block all those ads with Ghostery0 -

I don't know if any of you guys read 'The Slog'. It seems that British libraries have deemed everything other than the home page to be dangerous extremism:

BTW. Did anyone notice another trader died yesterday, or are we so used to it that it's no longer news?

Did you see this
http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2014/mar/14/scrap-dysfunctional-gm-regulations-uk-government-science-advisers-food
This is being pushed forward so that Monsanto can bring their poison in on the back of TTIP and TAFTA agreement.
The scientist pushing it forward by lobbying is heavily involved in GM engineering.:mad:

Too often I have read stories of people nipping in through doors to pinch personal goods. Too often have I heard of strangers being present in the same room as children who are looking for valuables (while parent is in kitchen etc) that I lock the doors and always will do. I know of a young chap up north who had his car stolen because of a pole with a hook through a letter box. My windows are locked for safety except fire escape window( children) and because my insurance policy deems it necessary.
I think we had all had different experiences of neighbour hoods and alter our behaviour accordingly in order to protect ourselves. I feel unbelievably safe here (the headline in the local paper being a thief stole honey from a health store) but I type to you now with my doors locked and I wont ever be able to change that behaviour now.
Mar... I have a piece of bubble wrap that is clagged over the letter box when the elements deem it necessary0 -
Me neither FUDS, I'm locked up nice and tight too, and always will be!!!0

Deep purple carrots which are purple all the way through and stay that colour when cooked *allegedly* and some salad blue potatoes which are supposed to produce blue mash, the boys will either like them or run away when I dish them up..
I had some of those carrots in an organic veg box and I made a homemade soup and it tasted lovely but just didn't look right while I was eating it!:DHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000
