  • I've had a sorting out day today, gone through the store cupboard and sorted it all in date use order but best of all I've tidied up and sorted out all my equipment and laid it out on a shelf so I can easily grab whatever I need if I need to do so in a hurry. I've stationed the sleeping bags above it on another shelf and sorted out the two biggest rucksacks above it too. So I've got fire lighting stuff including matches, lighters, maya dust, cotton wool balls, wax dipped matches, a parabloic lens firelighter and a very large jar of vaseline too. I've found my Army style Poncho that is also a Basha and some tent pegs and some cord and they are now altogether with a couple of foil blankets and 2 x foil emergency shelters ( all together we'll be warm as toast). I've got the waterproof groundcover there too. Then there are 2 x metal water bottles with carribenas to hang off the rucksack, some sporks, a multi tool penknife, a wooden spoon, a rotary and a lever type tin opener,a bottle opener, 2 x collapsible silicone cups, some enamel plates and bowls, a set of nesting billie cans, some string and clothes pegs, a sewing kit and a new pack of needles, some sheets of hand wash detergent, my head torch, a wind up radio, a micro fibre towel and a bottle of antibacterial gel all in one place. The portable woodburner and the kelly kettle are both in the shed and I can put my hand straight on them if I need to. The light to transport food is on the next shelf over as are the chocolate supplies so I can grab and go very quickly. Makes me feel more secure and ready for any problems. I must get together and put with it all a first aid kit, I've one always with me in my day to day rucksack along with my survival tin but I think I'm going to have a separate one to just grab and go, ready made up with everything else too. Productive day, Lyn xxx.

There are other ways such as avoid walking in areas that you do not know too well at night. Plus walking like you know where you know where you are going. Do not carry a map it makes you look like a tourist and they are muggers easy prey.

Agreed, trouble is it can't always be avoided :o My trips are for work, and I only have limited control over when etc.
  • Bl**dy hell! Mrs LW you are now awarded the UK MSE Prepper of the Year award!! Talk about organised and ready to run!! All you missed out are those black sticks to make yourselves invisible or Ramboesque!!

I am put to shame in the grab and go department as my main aim is to stay and fight. My home is already potentially off grid with heating and water, plenty of oil lamps for light, guns and technically food walking around on four/two legs!

I have a lot of get home equipment in my car including a packed and ready get home ruck sack.

I will have to get the grab and go bags organised now as you have put me (and probably others) to shame. Theres me thinking I am getting better scanning in a couple of documents to put on a memory stick.

  • Evening everyone.

I've had three friends in two weeks come round and burst into tears in the last week because of how they are getting treated at work.

Three strong minded women that are at breaking point and have been signed off sick because it is seriously affecting not only their health but their ability to function normally.

One of these works where I used to (Victorian workhouse with Darth Vader as CEO) many moons ago and she is a really hard worker.

People working will not have to worry about going hungry as they will have heart attacks first but hey for all I know that's how they plan on getting people back to work, killing off the ones who already have a jobs.

Hang on in there everyone it's going to get worse

In which case get a taxi, they should pay that on expenses.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

while there are many things that are to be said for his analysis the problem is always timing. There are clearly big bubbles in many economies but until something triggers it then it could drag on for many months. While I have nothing to lose in terms of investments being wiped out I am vulnerable to interest rates until I clear my debts, which will be early next year. Though I am hopeful that they might be able to keep things unwinding slowly. Look at the last crisis. We are still trying to work through that.
