It's a bright sunny day here and time to get out in the garden and tidy up ready for the planting season. I can't see any indication that we're going to have a really cold snap - those charts aren;t making any sense to me, maybe there was more context in the original tweet?COOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: ».was going to make sure our discovery was legal and on the raod for this winter, BUT will get it taxed and on the road for next week, just incase ( its insured and mot'd and on sorn as it is only an emergency car now... to expensive to run it all the time...)..
Also, I love the pictures of your pork and bacon, do you slaughter yourself and then take to the butcher or does the butcher do everything? I know there are lots of regulations around slaughtering which don;t fit well with OS ways necessarily....This is coming from someone who has used sellotape to keep up hems of their jeans in an emergency, not to mention chewing gum when one leg fell down once when on a school run!Disgusting I know but it worked.

PP... the discovery is on its own insurance policy and our others are our business fleet insurance...
we take the pigs to a small family run abotoir which will also butcher and vac pac them. to your own spec,.. so that way its meets all legal standards with full traceability and legal use by dates etc..( assuming it is going straight in the freezer).
We only sell to family and friends, but it is mainly for our own food.Work to live= not live to work0 -

I'm afraid I would prob get too attached to the pigs to slaughter them, but if tshtf I would wouldn't have a second thought if it meant feeding my family.
I guess you would do pretty much anything, to save your bacon.
I'll get my coat.
BTW. On the subject of pigs and slaughtering, did anyone see the Kill It, Cook It, Eat It series, where they slaughtered piglets, lambs, calves and young goats?0 -

Not 12 Volt?
Or maybe 12KW?
You're right, 12 Volt. Little more than emergency lighting and needs special bulbs.0 -
Thanks for the kindle links - some very interesting ones there. The freebies can be really good, like that 3rd one, 74 pages on making tinctures - there must be good, detailed information in there - I hope! got to get into the garden, got to, got to2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I buy a lot of my pork from here
http://www.packingtonpork.co.uk/
They sell locally around the Lichfield, Alrewas, Tamworth area of the Midlands. YOu can see the piggies from the main road and I was only remarking yesterday just how much space they have. We didn't eat pork for many years after a bad experience but these pigs have converted us back on to it. It is a little dearer but worth every penny.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
