:T I like that flood barrier. Is that a cannon on the end to repel boarders or the business end of a pump?
I take it that this is a commercially made product? If it's homemade, it's very tidy and I've love to know how it works. Anyone got any ideas or linkies, please?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

That water is getting worryingly high, against that flood barrier.
2 or 3 feet and it'll be over the top.0 -
Much fine tweetage about the Worcestershire/Herefordshire area, including a copy of that Upton pic is coming from @DaveThroupEA. He's the local patch manager, and has had some great feedback from the community there. Plus you can see from the tweets just how hard he is working - at least an 18 hour span of tweetage yesterday, for example. Great to see someone on the ground working so hard and constructively.0

That's a serious flood barrier! I know our flood team have been doing a fantastic job and putting in 22 hour days at times as they're on call constantly. They look shattered but are still managing to be cheerful and are checking up regularly on every single household by phone or in person.
There's not much any of us can do to take the pressure off other than take responsibility for our own properties and keep an eye on neighbours.0 -

I was ok until I read the part that said reward for her return, even if her body is found.
I wouldn't want a reward if I found her, money isn't everything at times like this.0 -
We have an electric cooker so are stuffed if we have a power cut for a long period. Well, almost stuffed, we do have one of those little gas burners, but I was looking at building a rocket stove for the garden.
However, I was thinking of using concrete blocks instead of house bricks.
Does anyone know where I can buy them and what is their correct name?
I have been searching B&Q and Wickes for concrete blocks, breeze blocks.... but had now success.

You might if you were on a very low wage/benefits, and had been flooded out.
BTW. I'd be very careful about using concrete to build a stove.
Concrete can explode (in much the same way as porous stones placed on a camp fire), showering the area with sharp fragments.0 -

They are called 'Hollow concrete blocks' due to the holes.0
