Worth noting on the thread too about the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning using camping stoves/heaters indoors. They are lethal (killers) if used inside a tent, or even at the doorway let alone inside a house.
No, that's not 100% accurate. Camping stoves and heaters can be used inside a tent if there is good ventilation. Many modern tents have sewn in groundsheets and are very poor when it comes to ventilation and I agree, it's not safe to use gas appliances inside these. Cotton canvas tents with loose lay groundsheets and synthetic tents with loose groundsheets on the other hand are much draftier and you can use camping stoves inside them with suitable precautions. I have a big cotton canvas trailer tent and it has a built in fitted kitchen unit with gas stove, it's designed to be used inside the tent safely.
In addition though there's also the question of flammability of synthetic tents...ventilation or not, it's really rather dangerous to use any sort of flame device like a gas cooker, heater, gas lamp or candles inside as the fabric can go fully alight in seconds. Cotton canvas is far less flammable, especially when damp. Big cotton canvas tents have fire resistant cooking areas, though you should also have a fire blanket and a bucket of water handy!
I wouldn't personally fancy using any of my gas cookers inside the house....camp cookers spit, flare, get hot around the outside, leak gas on occassion and yes, there's the carbon monoxide buildup problem inside a moderm sealed up house as well. If I do end up having to use one for home cooking I'll rig up a cotton canvas tarp outside and use the trailer tent unit under that.Val.0 -

Fire Action Plan - Plan your escape route now.....
.... But never open the door to a room if it's warm to touch.
• Keep low down air is cleaner and cooler nearer the floor ...............
May I just add two pieces of advice:
- don't touch the door with your finger tips, move the back of your hand towards it slowly.
- if you are in bed and awake to a smoke filled room, don't sit / stand up, roll out of bed onto the floor and crawl.
