Popped into a town-centre Tosco express yesterday to check up on the Springforce tp which I laid in stores of last year at £1.99 for 9 rolls, mostly when I had a voucher etc. Have been getting a bit twitchy lately as have run all my stores down due to relocation (but not as nervous as I am about bank unrest being between homes and having house sale proceeds waiting to put down as a deposit). It has been 3 months since my last visit to a Tosco and in that time the price of the same tp has increased 25% or so to £2.45... !! ??

Really? That used to be my TP of choice, at under 25p a roll. Hubby has been doing the TP stocks recently and buys at Lidl. What a rise though?!

  • M'lud I wish to protest!!! I've only had sparkling water when we visit the hostelry for the past six months, and I really don't do alcohol at all, He Who Knows is the cider drinker, in truth we had just won the pub quiz last night when I posted but the reality is that I just have a very whacky sense of humour!!! They recently got fined for sending rubbish to the wrong place so it doesn't give you much faith in the procedures there does it?

Thanks ragz for the Lid! loo paper recommendation - I was in there the other night, but with my OH looking huffy holding the basket I didn't get chance to check out the price - to be honest, I also hadn't realised how low the much-mocked mountain had got.... it is now little more than a molehill !!

:) The Nicky Elite brand is very nice quality. FF have it at 2 x 9 packs for £4 at the moment. Selling like hot cakes......it even passes Mum's stringent qualty checking criteria, ranking Ooooh this is nice, and she's a beggar to please in the t.p. stakes.

Thanks for the Nicky loo roll votes - just done a store finder check and my nearest Farm Foods is over 20 miles away. In the interests of local availability, I will give the Lid! ones a go I think, though I would hate to pooh pooh GQ's Mum's top-ranking quality control score..... (all puns intended) !!

:) Always good to preserve the OPSEC. I'm pretty amazed at how 'normal' my home looks. As long as you don't open some of those pretty storage boxes, or the drawers under the sofa or, worst of all, lift the valance hiding the underbed area.

I'm keeping fewer packs of t.p. in the bathroom as People Were Talking. Mostly friends, don't have too many strangers tripping in and out of my bathroom, but one doesn't want Talk. A woman who hoards t.p. could be a woman who hoards other things, hey? One might be a laughing stock atm but if real trouble hits, being known as the person with the Stuff could see the world and its wife beating a path to your door.

I hope we'd all want to help our nearest and dearest, and be neighbourly, but there are limits to what you can do without suffering too badly yourself.

Oh, if anyone was minded to purchase on of those little butane stoves, normally offered for sale circa £10, you might want to know that Goo Oootdoors will be having them on sale for £7 from 12th-18th Feb.
