ETA Just noticed it was by Deborah Madison, I've got a couple of her well written, beautifully presented books. Her recipes tend to work out. I think I may just buy this. Thank you!

Wow, finally reached the end of this brilliantly funny and informative thread after a few days of pretty intensive reading and wish there was more! You guys have shown so much dignity in the face of some downright rudeness - I have no idea why this topic is so controversial! I have been mooching around Old Style for years and had always believed it to be a broad church with politeness and respect from the vast majority of posters - I hope Andrea's sensible comments restore the boards to peace and tolerance.

2tonsils, your stories have stood out the most for me - I wish you all the best in such turbulent times, you seem like the kind of person who will do well in the face of adversity :)

Thank you all for the ideas and sharing of stories, I think you lot are great!

Well, I have yet to "Have a go at anyone"(Not my style, so you won't see it happen, no matter what is said to me)and most have been kind and supportive(I don't mind differences of opinion)but I have had a couple of occasions where I have been surprised by the reaction of what I have said has caused. It didn't seem controversial to me.

Some say similar things as me and all seems well, I say something and "Oh Dear!" it causes problems.

I did disappear as 2 Tonsils has decided to on another thread but some were kind enough to invite me to return and hold out an olive branch, so if I am given a hard time, I now try to be a bit more thick skinned, accept it and still join in.

Andrea made a very good point and I am happy that the thread is still in business...as I hope all of the OS threads will continue to be.

I think your friend was very wise to prepare that notebook. It will really help her husband not to have the stress of trying to recreate all the access log ins. My mother prepared a notebook like that when she knew she was dying - of course that was long before the internet age.

I worry that my whole life is on my computer and if we had a fire or my laptop was stolen I'd be helpless. I do back up my RIFS folder (Really Important Files) onto a USB drive evry now and then and give it to my sister to take care of but this reminds me I haven't done it for a while. I have to have password reminders for every account but I do try to make them cryptic

Trouble is, at my age, cryptic can result in me struggling to remember what the hell I meant
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Supermarket water - the ones I bought recently are July 2013; I've been looking at collapsible bottles for water, anyone have any info about which are best, most sturdy etc, please?

Hi, We used to have one of these but the water always tasted of the plastic IYKWIM
This was years ago, the plastics might not have so many chemicals now.
