Why would a trader get up at the crack of dawn to drive to another town , set up his stall and spend his day off trying to get stock to sell for less than the huge multinational discount chains.
We can't have it all ways. The stall holders/shop keepers have a living to make and our hunger for the lowest price means that they find it harder to make a living and many either give up or go bust!
I think that markets are even cheaper and better value than even the discount supermarkets and £ stores. I do not have one near me thoughIt's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0 -

I would definitely use markets if there was one less than 7 miles away. I grew up shopping mainly in them but it now costs me about £5.00 to get to the nearest:mad: and then am limited to what one arthritic person can carry in a trolley - not much.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0

Just watched the news, and there is a banking blip today with people trying to use their debit cards.. I heard Lloyds bank is one of them..
It seems as though this type of thing is happening with most of the banks....
This will just add to the problem for the banks that people will want to keep as much of their money out of the banking system as possible.
Wish I now has my mother's old metal tea caddy lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -

I know Mar that was my first thought too! The plunger thingy isn't too bad a price. I was reading an article on Peak Prosperity about doing laundry that linked through to site. Now there's only me and DS I might do a bit more hand-washing, I keep running out of underwear before there's a full load:o Having had 5 kids this is most definitely a novelty, you can imagine the laundry that generates!!Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

I found something on instructables! Scroll down, and there's a diagram of a hand made clothes wringer - it looks ... mmm .... possible, lets say - certainly better than £200, or even £50. I love stuff like that!
