I discovered that I need to have more than two per cupboard maybe four or even six would be better and I had a hell of a problem finding stuff in the cupboards.
So apart from a new bulb and starters I am going to buy some more push lights tomorrow to put inside the cupboards and a few more to put underneath the wall cupboards.
I once cooked by lamplight for about a year as the whole fluorescent fitting was b*ggered, had to get a new light fitting evetually - was(am) poor so took a while:oOfficial DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

Hi all, not posted for a bit but still around.
Am very pleased to still be getting produce from the lottie. May have a wander up there in the morning and do a bit more digging up of the dreaded couch grass if ground is not too soggy. It's on a hill so may be ok. We've escaped the recent storms, touch wood, though the tidal floods did a lot of damage just before Christmas.
This year I have declared that I'm attempting to become debt free. This will be no mean feat as I will need to raise a substantial amount of additional income to do it, but it is a form of prepping. Trying to get things as sorted as I can before interest rates go up and whatever else! I'm fairly convinced that economic meltdown is happening albeit in very slow motion. I think we are getting covered in the S in tiny little specks and people don't even realise what it is!!
I need to get much more organised with my preps - I've got bits n pieces of things all over the place. I need to stop writing lists and actually do something! Please give me a boot up the bum...Official DFW nerd - 282 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts'

I installed the same length (4ft) fluorescent tubes in my garage, office and kitchen, and keep a couple of spares in the garage. Also, I recommend getting electronic starters, as they prevent the tube ends going black:

Anyone know if a Big Berkey type filter would deal with that? Or if you had a reverse osmosis system fitted? Because the water hasn't been shut off they have just been told not to use itIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
