Oh if I was italicised, does that mean a dark Italian hunk sweeps me of my. Feet, then that's ok :rotfl:
Question preppers
I have a shed like this one right out side my back door.

Now currently it stores my recycling.
my prepping stuff Ie stove etc is stored in the garden shed at the other end of thegarden. Now I was planning to move my prepping stuff . To the one by by the back door, plus put am store of water in there too. Do you think it would be Ok? Should I also put it in lidded plastic crates?

I keep my bug out bag in the garden shed some distance from the house, in case the house catches fire. You might want to keep gas canisters further away for that reason also.0 -
I'm considering getting one of those jump start thingies which you can use independently if charged.
I am pleased with mine, but as you know I didn't buy it for that. If you do wish to use it for that, you have to leave it connected for about 20 minutes. (Current will only be a few amps as the voltage difference won't be much.)
If you jump start with jump leads, you start the engine in the helper vehicle. This increases the voltage to about 14.5 volts, so will charge the dead battery at whatever the alternator can manage, and you can start the dead car virtually immediately.0 -

After reading your very useful tips I realised I have a first aid kit already, its in the boot under the liner so I forgot about it.
Never heard of a Schwee had to look it up, seem a great idea, especially as I am always wanting a waz.
This looks good, as it's unisex and also has a bottle with a screw top for storing the result... I may get one to keep in the car.
Toilet wise, I spent years having to use a compost loo, which was basically a bucket with a toilet lid, that we put a little earth in then covered each use with more earth. My mum used to dig a hole and bury the contents when it got full.
No interference from the solar flare, thankfully, sorry for the brief paranoia. Wonder if anyone in the UK saw the aurora today, it was on morning TV this morning saying uk may get them this evening.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I have one, it has come in very useful at times, it has enough juice to start at least 6 cars (real cold spell a couple of Decembers ago) and keeps its charge for more than a month. (I generally put on charge for several hours on the first Sunday of the month.) And they are the antidote for the problem JK0 mentions of people parking nose in.
An alternative to the large crocodile clip style jump leads are the ones which plug into the cigarette lighter sockets - anyone any experience of these?0 -
The latest conversation highlights the differences in prepping styles and the need to prep for your own personal situation.
Here there is always somewhere to pee :rotfl: and even in summer when we have tourists there's an unwritten code among locals that you never drive past someone stuck at the side of the road, even to offer a lift to a safe/dry place/with phone signal. Provided you travel at "busy" times if you are at all vulnerable in the event of a breakdown (that would be me) then you can feel pretty safe. It doesn't matter if you know the person or not, you always have some mutual acquaintance on striking up a conversation. It amuses me no end in Argyll that on first meeting someone the conversation is all about who you are/who you know/who you're related to!!!

Hi all, thank you for your suggestions I will have a long ponder and make some decisions, I do tend to travel in daylight and not in remote areas, but I thought I should give some thought to my travel situation.
On a different note I was dismayed today on using my bamix to find that it was screeching like a banshee (definitely terminal) and had a quick look at cheap and cheerful replacements. I then remembered that I bought the bamix in Lakeland, found the receipt took it back and was given a brand new one even had a choice of colours. The original was 3.5 years old.
