:o Ummm, have long been a proponent of the Sloggi knicker but have never tried the tops. Can I ask ,do they hide the pointy bits? As in, would they be decent under snug-fitting tops?

GQ you might need some of These!!:rotfl:

GQ this might sound daft but you could try making washable nursing pads without the waterproofing. A small piece of fleece would probably stay put. If you google the pictures you will see what I mean.

Spent a lot of time tonight trying to work out how I can wriggle out of the office Christmas Lunch tomorrow....I'm working in another town so it would entail a 38 mile round trip [travelling in my own time and at my expense] on winding country roads to go eat a lukewarm pub lunch . . . . . I have already paid for the meal but feel I would be cutting my losses if I didn't go

    Pull a sicky. :)

Sainbury's do their own version of these and a lot cheaper too :) Quite thick and supportive - a bit like swimming cossie material.
I hate buying bras and underwear - can never get the size quite right but these are very comfortable and do the job for everyday wear.

I would politely just say no and totally ignore any fallout. I doubt after all the travel you would feel very festive.
  • De-lurking to say that Rigby and Peller are very good albeit expensive. They do size you by looking at you sans clothing (that was a bit of a shock). The assistant brought about 5 bras to try (different brands have different fits) and declared me a 42D. The bra was about £50, but it has lasted 7 years so far and still got plenty of life left in it so I feel I'm getting my money's worth.
I made the mistake of trying an Asda one once. That was a let down (in more ways than one, the flipping straps wouldn't stay up :o)

  • I've been told to join in with the 'wear a Christmas jumper' on the last day of term as otherwise I'm 'spoiling' things for the rest of the team, £12 for the correct jumper. Then there is the team meal. originally £70 a head, now down to £20 & finally the end of term buffet, take in an item from a list but don't get to join in the buffet as we'll be to busy. Can you tell I really not 'feeling the love' at work at present. I've had my work appraisal y'day & I've been told I'm very negative, not really surprising is it.

  • "I went to Ev@ns. The assistant was lovely but it seems that if I try on every bra in store it might be possible to get one approximately to fit. With panel-beating, probably. She was a sweetheart but by that point I was a hypo strop-monster on the inside although pleasant on the outside and knew I had to get outta there before I did something I'd regret (crying or screaming in fury being the chief options)."

Sounds about right for Evans ;-)

I'm sorry your having such a hard time, I'm shocked that M&S were so unhelpful. Working in retail I too hate shopping with a vengeance but its worth persevering. You will really notice the difference with a properly fitted bra. Saying that, I should really practice what I preach but hey. I used to always buy the same bra from Avon that fitted beautifully, then they discontinued it :-(

Sounds like my place of work - there is a whole PR department staffed by trendy singletons dedicated to thinking up organised fun and assorted jollifications - most of which seem to entail dressing up in silly costumes and rattling collection buckets. Everything is voluntary although failure to participate is viewed as not sharing the Company Values and Visions & not being a team player. Not "feeling the love" either Hester

:DHester, I'm once again not Secret Santa-ing nor Xmas meal-ing. My colleagues are all very nice people but I find constant demands on my salary as one of the few part-time singletons, a drain in more ways than one. When you're under financial pressure, and busy, and other people keep inventing things for you to do/ spend, it gets a bit trying.

 Sometimes I feel like clasping them gently by the throat and saying "Look, pal, I take home just over £10k a year and my rent and council tax alone is nearly £5k. I'm not a miserable non-team player, I'm bliddy POOR."

Xmas jumpers were suggested for our archery club. I don't own such a garment and have no intention of acquiring one but I do have a cherry-red microfleece tunic and a pkt of cotton wool - I feel a Blue Peter moment upon me. :rotfl:

Decided I will try Debenhams on Saturday. My nearest Sainsbugs is a smaller store (the big ones are out of town here and the best part of 40 mins pushbiking each way) and the little one doesn't do clothes.

Roll on the weekend. I shall put on a scruffy outfit and go play on the lottie. Much more authentically "me".

Could you not get a christmas jumper from a charity shop for a couple of quid or see if a friend or relative could lend you one?

At least you would save twelve quid.
