Lots of trees down round here, we lost a coupe of fence panels, greenhouse is trashed and gazebo is damaged, but it's all fixable, the house is ok and so are we.

Not too bad here. We had some water in through the back bathroom ceiling, so it's on the phone to the roofer. Can't see any obvious damage or tile slippage, but who knows what's going on up there. Pleased to note I can still move with almost the speed of Mrs L's Docky when faced with finding a bucket quickly!0

My pleasure, Docky. :rotfl:
I did think of your family when I put the torch next to my bed last night, as Mrs L is so very sensible in her advice about being ready just in case.
Hope you weren't scared by the big gales last night, but I am sure that Mrs L had you safely snuggled away, and probably with an extra fuss or two behind the ears, eh?

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I'm new on the thread, I only just sussed that.
I've just been out a local walk, checking things - someone's roof has blown off, lots of fences and whatnot blown over, but the saddest thing is that a huge branch has fallen off an oak tree onto two military graves, and knocked them overthe council know, its taped off and signposted, but still very sad to see.

hi all hope your all safe and well,i been away down south for a lovely weekend in a hotel blissssssssssssss, weather ways we had strong winds today managed to dry 3 washes but raining now.i sorry to hear of the fatalities from the storm you getting it bad over there. I wish you all well safe thoughts and hope this storm passes without anymore people getting hurt. been busy today baking 36 plain buns and topped them in orange icing and witches on a stick, now in freezer ahead of thurs party. also made a Scottish cloutie, aka Halloween dumpling house full of spices. its in freezer sliced and ready to have custard with it. baking is sooooooooo cheap compared to buying, my mil brought these orrible dry small buns in yesterday 12 for a quid I managed 36 massive (could have made more like 50 if I had went a bit leaner with the mixture)but wanted big ones to decorate, anyway used ys stork and ys eggs and did 36 for approx. 5p a bun...iced an all!!!!!! and the dumpling got 16 thick slices for approx. 1.60 so well pleased. the prince needs walked so away out here amongst the blasted man 2 doors down who insists on setting off fireworks sporadically as soon sas it gets dark from about September on. good thing the bloody dog is tone deaf, have a good evening all xxxC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater

I'm cream-crackered.
My calls today have been trees and panel fences. Down. Or partially down and hanging on/ over things. Or split in two and about to come down.....our poor tree peeps have been darting about dealing with stuff and assessing other trees to see what needs to be treated as an emergency. Timberrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And we got off pretty lightly compared with many parts of the south.
Hester, sorry to hear about your greenhouse and fencing. Hope you can get them fixed without too much hassle and expenditure, heaven knows you don't need either of those.
Full of cold and feeling a bit rubbish so will be putting myself to bed nice and early tonight. I seldom meet a party I like as much as an early night, but then I admit to being a dormouse.
Keep warm and well, peeps.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Hi everyone, im quite new to prepping, so was wondering if i could ask some questions please?
i know you are prepping for when the shtf, but what is that for you? is it for rocketing food prices, loss of jobs, economy collapse? and do you just prep as in buying stuff for store cupboard etc or are you trying to become more self-sufficient?
i always keep my store cupboards and freezer quite well stocked, this is mainly because i have quite a big family and like to be prepared for illness, short on money etc, my husband is into deer management so we have a rifle, and we have recently bought an air rifle which im a pretty good shot even if i do say so myself lol, i target practice regularly in my garden and we are also teaching the children, we often have a deer in the freezer and can get rabbits etc aswell, i am also happy to skin and butcher the meat, so in this aspect we can be quite self-sufficient. my husband is also a fisherman, and we have knowledge there aswell. xOne day I will live in a cabin in the woods0 -
hi betterlife you are well ahead of me in skills, I so envious lol. I started shtf as my oh was being made redundant last year and was welcomed on this thread with fantastic knowledge and great ideas, all great folks on here!!! also the price of EVERYTHING going up up and away. I grow my own of all veg and most fruit except apples and pears which come from my mums garden. I will however still buy ys fruit and veg if priced well and prepare/freeze it. I can fish so can son and oh, and that's about it really except trying to be thrifty.i wouldn't mind gutting /skinning if I had to. xxxC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater

Thanks GQ, hubby has replaced the fence, £130 lighter so bang goes our planned treats this week, never mind at least we have the money to pay for the repairs. Well we will have if he gets his overtime payment this month, he was missed off the pay run last month.
Betterlife, I don't prep for any particular large SHTF instance, but just like to be prepared for small emergencies, we get snowed in for a couple of days occasionally the local area is also prone to flooding. The fact that I have long life milk, bread and HM ready meals in the freezer, candles etc means there is no big panic if I can't get out for a couple of days.
