MrsLW and Bob I am now planning to cultivate dandelions in one of my salad planters. The big healthy dandys grow on the grass side-walks along the road, which are kept short by the council, and frequented by all the dogs in town, so I really don't fancy eating them, but will cultivate some of my own now I have read up on them (if you're interested see http://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/natural-medicine/herbal-remedies/dandelion-herbal-remedies.htm for health benefits)

There seems to be a general trend of inflation on purchases, some with rising prices others with lower pack sizes or lower quality.

Makes me thing something like olive oil might be a good investment, calorie dense, can be used as a fuel, medication and even moisturizer( not that I fancy that much! , but whatever)

    .

340g tins are £1.50 at sainsburys at the moment, im multi-tasking while doing the shopping..:o
  • I see there's another episode of blackout on C4 this evening (I think it's another episode not a repeat). Will be interesting to see how they develop it but too late for me, will watch it on catch-up later in the week. Used some of our homegrown garlic in a curry this evening - OMG it's strong. Peeps going to love me at work tomorrow :rotfl::rotfl:

Haven't you heard of the EVOO method of cleansing? I use it most nights, extra virgin olive oil spread on the face, gets eye makeup off, clean flannel soaked in fairly hot water wiped all over, generally no need for moisturiser (sometimes I need it as it can be very drying). Been doing it for nearly 2 years, cheap, quick and effective.

Not sure it stores for long though
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Don't forget MrsLurcherwalker, one of the most versatile weeds of all, the humble Dandelion.

Young leaves can be eaten as salad, while the older leaves can be cooked like spinach.

The stems can be striped, and the juicy insides eaten, while the roots can be roasted, then ground up to make a substitute for coffee.

You can also use the blossoms (green bits removed) for making jam/US jelly per the link to a recipe I posted earlier. I need to remember to do that next spring.
