Chipping in on the oil cleansing method! I have used OCM with great success in the past but got lazy when L'oreal released their micellar water (similar to Bioderma) and my skin is definitely the worse for stopping the oil.
EVOO can be drying on some skin types; if you already suffer with dry or dehydrated skin, can I suggest almond oil? You can go "posh" and buy cold-pressed organic sweet almond oil online for about £5 a bottle but I use Sainsbobs almond oil from the cooking aisle; around £1.50 for 500ml which lasts me a good 3-4 months. Sunflower oil is another which is purportedly good for dry skin, although I haven't tried it myself but it would almost certainly be even cheaper.
Use around a teaspoon of oil, warm it between your hands and massage into your face for 3-5 minutes. When you're ready, soak a flannel or muslin cloth in hand hot water, wring it out and hold it over your face until the cloth cools a bit, then wipe to remove the oil and dirt. Rinse the cloth and repeat.
It will dissolve ALL makeup, even waterproof mascara, I wear a full face every day (bronzing primer, foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer as cheek contour, blush, highlighter, eyeshadow in at least three different shades, liquid liner and mascara  ) and when I'm done wiping, I can splash my face with cool water to close the pores and pat my face dry with a clean white towel and there's never any makeup residue to see. If you feel you need a moisturiser, another 2 or 3 drops of oil massaged into your face works brilliantly.
If you have oily or acne-prone skin, you can add some castor oil into the mix, it is somewhat drying but excellent for deep cleansing the pores and helping to minimise breakouts. You can also add essential oils for added benefits and lovely smells, but research first. I cannot recommend Crunchy Betty's wisdom on this subject highly enough:

:hello: Hello
I'd like to come and play pleasebut I have a confession: I've mostly been on the dfw board during my life on mse
:o:o please tell me that doesn't make me ineligible  a friend with a current diary over there pointed me to a recipe mid-thread on here, and I started mooching about ... there's a few names I recognise (hello MG, mardatha, Kittikins as well, a few others too
).
I suppose I've been prepping for a while - started with keeping a bit of dosh in the house in the runup to Y2K in case the computers had a conniption, and in the last few years I've kept a *lot* of food in the house, because for about 3 years, I got terrible viral infections during the winter months, just felt awful. Then arthritis, and a couple of minor operations last year. Much better winter last year, but I've got a minor lurgy at the mo, which I'm trying to get shut of - the lurgy is why I'm mooching about on here at the mo, instead of doing my thing, which would currently be either trying to start up a 2nd line of income, or safeguarding heating and cooking ability during a powercut.
Better stop there. I'm jogging through the thread - I'm on page 123- I'll let you know when I get here

On the subject of spam I personally do not like it, so I buy large tins of ham in the land of pound instead, much more useful can be used in pancakes, omelettes, stews, pies in a risotto or a pasta mealBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Welcome Karmacat.
You'll need a metal colander for your head (for when we go a bit tin foil hat) and a batty badge..:rotfl:0 -
Hello KARMACAT welcome to the thread, the colander is not a standard one, you can have them with one long handle (worn at the front to guard the nose) or two little handles (worn sideways as ear protectors). One of our number has a real Tin Hat but I think that's just one man upmanship!!!!! We're always pleased to have new friends to play with, welcome to the batty club, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
