Yesterday I captured a UFO. No seriously - it was unidentified and it was flying! :rotfl:Could this be what the circling police 'copter had been looking for? Anyhow when it came to rest on top of the hill, I bravely set off after it. It turned out to be a helium, sort of snow white effigy - the size of a small child. It's anchored round the back at the mo though I may well move it round the front in the continuing quest to annoy the neighbour. ;). Plus I nearly had a heart attack when I peeked out the 1st floor landing window this morning and this thing loomed up to greet me.
Meanwhile I think I woke up in an alternative universe anyway. I don't recognise this country where computer hard drives are smashed at the behest of the state and I'm concerned about the ever broadening definition of 'terrorism'. We're still a mile away from tin pot dictatorships of course but the direction of travel is not good :(.

    Hello BSB

It's a new thingy the gov are doing. ERm. Department of erm,. what was it? Anyway, a team of people at the gov, providing a point of contact to the House of Common.

On the new HOC forum... There are a few borderline questions (borderline impolite!) to TPTB on the Q&A site. Not me, I was polite, honest...

    Hi BBB!

We are posting on MSE as the House of Commons representative - separate from the Government, just to clarify for MSE'ers! We've only been on the forum for 8 weeks so far so quite new still.

We'll provide the info you asked for here for everyone in case it makes things easier:
The House of Commons itself does not have public guides for emergency scenarios - for advice on flooding or outbreaks of flu etc it is usually local councils that have information for public mobilisation and action plans.

We do not know your exact location but do have a look at Rutland County Council’s emergency page as an example:
    http://www.rutland.gov.uk/advice_and_benefits/emergency_planning_advice.aspx

    And also Kirklees Council:
    https://www.kirklees.gov.uk/you-kmc/emergency-plan/emergency-plan.shtml

Maybe contact your own council to see what their action plans are for more local information?

Hope this helps people on the OS Board?

    Best wishes

I’m the official organisation rep for the House of Commons. I do not work for or represent the government. I am politically impartial and cannot comment on government policy. Find out more in DOT's Mission Statement.

MSE has given permission for me to post letting you know about relevant and useful info. You can see my name on the organisations with permission to post list. If you believe I've broken the Forum Rules please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com. This does NOT imply any form of approval of my organisation by MSE

    ;) Me being sarky, Lyn.

Underwhelmed at finding someone on the gubbermint shilling on MSE, tbh. I like to keep better company than that.

:D Heh! That's our cards marked, lass: wimmin with allotments and all. Is that a rolling pin in your apron pocket or an offensive weapon, modom? Just step this way.........

Actually, if it came to a home invasion I'd be glad to have a rolling pin to hand. Solid wooden one.

Dishes are done and kettle's on. Anyone up for a brew?
