Evening all.
Was missing a bit longer than anticipated but have been doing a few preptastic things and catching up with a lovely lady who has known me since I was in short trousers, as it were. Or primary school, if you prefer your language a bit more exact.
Anyroad, this lady is one of the J Witnesses and had told me that they are all (as in all over the world) being encouraged to have go-bags with 5 days of food and water, to be ready to leave their homes at a moment's notice and rendezvous at a pre-chosen location in each area.
I played the innocent, as in never having heard of a Go Bag in all my born days, but their motivation is apparently to preserve themselves against various unspecified SHTF situations. Not believing an end-of -the-world-and-JWs-plus-luggage ascending-to-heaven but actually making a form of prepping as part of their everyday lives.
I was astonished. There must be summat in the watter.
herbily, your problems with potholes sound horrendous. Whatever is the situation if your vehicle suffers major damage by falling into a pothole? Does your insurer pay or are you expected to take it up with the Highways Agency/ local council?
I read recently that a major Japanese car manufacturer has built a dedicated test track in Japan to replicate the poor condition of the UK's roads, so that they can adjust their cars to make the best of a bad job. The shame of it.
We live in interesting times, lovely peeps, and that is no mistake. I responded to the zeitgeist by buying 10 more cans of sardines. You can never have too many sardines.........Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I think you have to prove the council was negligent in not fixing the potholes, and you can only prove they were negligent if you'd already reported the potholes and then the council didn't fix them in a "reasonable" amount of time. Hmm. If only I had reported every pothole between home and work...
From an insurance point of view, it's classified as wear and tear, and not something they pay out for, though I think it may be different if your car actually collapses at the point of impact with a pothole. Don't know, is the short answer.
And must find out where the JWs are planning to assemble - because I might want to assemble somewhere different...0 -

But being of a preptastic state of mind, perhaps we should be cultivating all the hairiness we can to keep us warm if the SHTF lol

http://www.theperfectpantry.com/2011/05/other-peoples-pantries-156.htmlEnvy is one of the bad emotions, isn't it? That pantry is bigger than my bedroom and you could put my whole flat inside that kitchen. Ooooh, for a proper pantry........!

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:At the rate of fuel increases, it may yet come to that. I have rashly had my long (head) hair cut into a rakish short style last week, freeing up enough hair to stuff a small cushion, but no regrets yet.
Today I have been experimenting (and cleaning) a new-to-me pushbike as Mum has decided having a P*shley Pr*ncess sitting unused in her shed isn't ideal, when I have a rather road-worn 20 y.o. bike which has never been right since a collision one dark evening with the Pothole from Hell on a city street. As in my cycle mechanic having to hammer my wheel rims back into shape....
Yonks ago, in another part of the forest, a friend of a friend and their friend were cycling in line on a city street when the one in the lead hit a bad pothole ('twas late evening and dark) and came a cropper. Arm broken, second cyclist fell over the first, bit banged about, as were the bikes. Police and amulance on site when the roadmenders turned up to patch the hole. Which had already been measured and photied by the Polis.
Now if you can get a crew out at 23.00 to mend a pothole when you're trying to hide how bad it was from the Polis, surely you coulda done it before someone was injured?!The PP is a real old-fashioned bike; I feel like I should be costumed like a district nurse or summat, it's so sit-up-and-beg...............
Weather's grey, chilly and disgusting and about to rain, here, how's summer where you are?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
