Energy meter reader trespass??

Actually I did not interpret the term "Wikipedia" did. There is in reality no such thing as an ostritch tribe in the terms you suggest it can therefore only be "management" who have misinterpreted the meanings and attributes of this tribe.
Quite what you believe I have to gain or achieve via your nonsenical claims / belief that I wish to cause trouble for or between you is utterly beyond me. I don't know either of you and therefore have no such motives.
I'm sorry if you were offended, that was certainly not my meaning or intention steffyoak might have been a more appropriate response.0 -
I find it hard to believe two meter-readers would scale a 6f fence to read meters without waiting for some time at the door first.
Sounds to me as if OP didn;t want them to read the meter / wouldn;t answer the door, not knowing who was there.0 -
All satisfactorily resolved now hopefully, Steffy actually made a move and fixed her problem, the consequent knock on effects regarding meter readers trespassing the high-walled property of a home alone female [I assume] should disappear under the arrangement.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Scottish Power are using self employed meter readers. they pay a franchise fee of something like £6oo fot the privelidge of joining this dubious business model, company is called Meter-U, I think they get only 42p a read, they pay all their petrol, insurances etc. Its no coincidence that Steffyoak has seen not one but ,two acting like idiots. I can only think that because they are self employed they are more driven to act like this. Keep an eye on the next meter reader from my company, ( we take over the contract ) who will be dropping by your place from September onwards Steffy, it could even be me,( if you r Yorks,Lincs area) I am guaranteed never to climb over any gates regardless of height
Meter-U are a horrible company. would not leave me alone trying to get me to join as a franchisee. I feel sorry from their poor meter readers.Working within the gas and electric industry since 2008'0 -

It seems to me to be the case that whilst the birth defect bit was clearly not my intention, it was misunderstood / misinterpreted by undaunted, in # 47 I clearly stated this to be the case.

You too Terrylw1 are both (1) misunderstanding and (2) reinforcing the wrong interpretation by restating the misunderstanding that its based on a birth defect .. .. .. when I stated in #47 its based on nothing of the sort, my clear stated understanding and intend use was as head~in~the~sand.
99% of management would say 'head in the sand'
99% of management would never have heard of the toe bit
99% of the images in peoples heads is head not toes
99% of the pictures available show heads not toes
99% of the images on the net don't even show toes

Not at all, I understand what you are trying to say since I explained it in my post.
I'm just saying that whoever decided to create the term which is based on a genetic defect, did so in poor taste. I'm not suggesting you would use it to that effect but the people who coined, saw it as acceptable when its not.
There are many other such words that people use which I won't mention (and I know you haven't used) which can be taken the wrong way.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
We have a house that is often sadly left unattended. We have a sophisitcated camera system that records activity from several cameras around our house and if someone approaches the house the cameras photograph the person and the photograph is uploaded to a website and we are alerted. We can thereore see clearly who comes and goes and if we want we can review the video of what they did. I review the log of photographs a few times a day when we're not here .... and we can also see what's happening in real time on the ipad!
For several years we have had an online utility arrangement with E.ON. They ask for monthly readings and we provide them and religously every month and within a few days of providing the reading a GS4 operative arrives when we're not here bangs on the door and when he receives no reply he tries to open our garage door and our locked gate to our garden. He has tried several times over the last few weeks to gain access but not left a card. He arrived yesterday and my wife was able to give him access to the gas meter in the garden but not the electric meter which was in the grarage and I had the only key and wasn't hom. He was upset possibly because it was (we believe) his fourth visit in several weeks. On leaving he then purpopsefully drove over a garden large pot.
It was the hottest day of the year, he had the drivers window open, he couldn't have failed to hear the very loud crunching noise - it was very loud. We're quite certain - as far as one can reasonably be - that it was purposeful and malicious. In any event even if accidental it would have been impossible not to feel and hear it and he sped away at fast speed. All of this was recorded on several cameras and photographed. The last meter reading of both meter readings was 6 weeks ago.
I think I have a right to leave my home without concerning myself that GS4 employees feel that they have a right to enter my property without my permsission for routine meter readings when we're not here. I also feel that the issue is wider in that clearly they all feel they do because meter readers have been trying our doors and gates for years. I also think that the police could take more of an interest. When I speak to them they seem to think it isn't important.
I've written to E.ON and I'm waiting to hear. But I feel that this pathetic behaviour should be stopped.
Anyone agree?0 -
""" I have a right to leave my home without concerning myself that GS4 employees feel that they have a right to enter my property without my permission for routine meter readings when we're not here"""
- 100% agree - #6 you should assume he was about to burgle the house and immediately ring 999
"""online utility arrangement with E.ON. They ask for monthly readings and we provide them and religiously every month"""
- no idea of the actual % but as its a passport to a cheap[er] tariff I imagine most [%] dwellings do this
- ask your supplier why, given that they can evidence 4 weekly e-readings on time, why the so frequent 'actual' reading
- offer a fixed by arrangement access to your property via a phone call / email twice a year only, get them to call the 'meter jockey' off
"""He was upset possibly because it was (we believe) his fourth visit in several weeks"""
- he would be upset, his PBR system means he loses money
""" On leaving he then purposefully drove over a garden large pot."""
- #6 immediately ring 999 and insist what you believe to be an offence is investigated, offer video evidence
- if you are fobbed off put it in receipted writing to the chief constable asking about their failure to act on criminal damage
- then ring your supplier and report your belief to them, and further inform them as a courtesy that you have informed the police
uk1, the solution to what's happening to you is in your own hands, only you can effect it - no one else but you can stop this happening to you. Make some kind of mutual workable agreement with your supplier for access and insist they take your dwelling out of the meter readers remit.Disclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. Thanks,
I appreciate the suggestion that I call the police ... but to be fair I do know he is probably not a burglar because he is in a GS4 car and it coincides with the usual meter reading timings so I feel - on balance - calling the police just feels not right. Contacting the Chief Constable I'm not certain will change G4s behaviour.
Since posting I decided to contact G4S media department with a copy of all of the security videos and pictures and very much what I posted above. I have offered them the opportunity to comment before I discuss it with some of my media contacts.
I want to know whether they approve of their staff trying to gain access to unoccupied houses without the owners permission (or a court order) and if not what they plan to do to ensure it doesn't happen again. That is the wider issue.0 -
Hi UK 1 ,having found another TWO electric meter bypasses in the last few days why do you think you have the right to avoid meter inspections ? not readings, inspections. The idea you ve got of telephoning the police is not a good one. They wont be impressed and could even claim you are are deliberately wasting police time, they ve got better things to do. As richie of the boro says the sensible option is to vent your fury to some poor girl at EON cust services, who will take your address off the system, but it will proberbly still need a one year check. Thats what Brit Gas do anyway, most of of these foreign companys like EON and EDF could nt give a toss about people stealing energy and you will proberbly never see another meter reader again, finally, omit the word trespass from your complaint because the meter reader has a good reason for accessing the meters, which dont belong to you0

Trolling to give meter readers a bad name is a bit silly.0
