  • loan express took £69.50 out of my bank account on the 8/12/12 ive never applied for a loan off anyone so god knows how they got my bank details. I spoke to my bank natwest and I was lucky and they refunded the £69.50 that was taken. this has been referred to the fraud section of the bank. I hope when they get investigated they end up with criminal charges being brought agenst them but some how I dought it. company's like this always seen to get out of it some how.
  • Sounds like a brokers fee. They must have got your details somehow - so if you did not get them how do you explain it?
    Thinking critically since 1996....

Is Natwest issuing you with a new card? If you didn't give your card details to Loan Express they're out there in the wild and may be used again.

I was recently looking for a loan online, today when I checked my bank account I had been charged £69.50 by a company called Loans Express.

I can't remember using this site directly but did use a loans search engine which must of passed on my details to them as I wouldn't of agreed to pay any upfront fees.

I have cancelled my debit card and contacted visa but they say that Loans Express take £69.50 as a fee and I would have to persue a refund from them. I have telephoned a couple of times but you get an automated message and then get cut off.

I'm at a loss how to proceed now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sometimes it's easy for people to get muddled up with loan finders and actual lenders because of the way these go-between finders present themselves and you give your details to what you think is one and it's the other, I know I found it very confusing when I first started looking for a loan, not saying you have definitely confused them but it is a common occurrence and as I say it's QED, searching for the right loan can be exhausting, can you remember how many times you gave the info during the search??.

Normally, it would be once to the finder and once again to the lender they have found you, if it was just the once then my guess (and it is only a guess) is that the go-between you used to search for a loan HASN'T passed your card details to a lender, what I think they have done is they themselves have charged you a fee for their broker services, this 'Loans Express' doesn't look like an actual lender to me, they are probably the searcher you used originally, just yet another (as if there wasn't enough) go-betweener and worse, one that charges.

Is this a response to mrpeterjenkins? If so, he doesn't need to faff around with any of that.

mrpeterjenkins says he wasn't looking for a loan. Presumably meaning he didn't enter his card details in to a dodgy loan broker's website.

If that's so, he hasn't entered in to a contract with Loans Express and can ignore the Terms and Conditions on their website.

In cases such as this the account holder should go straight to their bank and report it as an unrecognised/fraudulent transaction and receive an immediate refund. This is what he's done and what happened.
  • Hi,

I have also had 69.50 taken from account and i have never applied for a loan with this company or any others.
I have sent the following to Loan express:

    "
    ******URGENT*******
    To Whom It May Concern,

I have been made aware by my bank that you have taken funds =£69.50 from my account without my consent or knowledge.
As stated by the bank the funds are in a holding account at the moment so you have not actually taken the funds, and have requested to ask you not to take the funds as my account have been compromised and you could be involved in fraudulent activity.
I am aware of your company but have never needed your services and never applied. My account is now being investigated.
ll I am asking for is a refund of the total amount into my account immediately or cancel the card transaction on your system and delete all details regarding my name, to save future problems."

then i resent it 48hours later with no reply.

Could please someone comment if they have received a refund from this company?? and if so what time period we are looking at etc??

    Thanks

Why send an email to the FOS now, you need to give lE time to refund if they dont within 8 weeks i think then you take it to the FOS.

Send LE a letter stating money was withdrawn and you want it to be put back, maybe even throw in the threat of going to the FOS.

I didnt say you were stupid, some people apply via these loan broker sites thinking they are getting a loan by entering card details but all tehy get is a fee deducted.
