The Asda one is the same unit with a different name - it's under the Dual brand for £80.

UIAVMM there were some 'secondhand' units for as little as £45-odd on dabs...and it said they only had damaged boxes.

can any one out there tell me how to get my now unsubscribed sky plus box to record tv again, I would re join sky again but i am currently financially embarressed, ther must be a hack out there somewhere, thanks

Thank you so much OP for this - i bought one on the day of the OP and installed it the next - updated the firmware last night to the Dual-Record and it's perfect!

This is a digital system. If the picture is not freezing and breaking up, there is no aerial problem. It will just be the lower bit rates used on terrestrial or something else.

Thinking odf getting one for my mum ( she's 83) - she would only want to tape from normal aerial Tv - Corononations St - usually. Is it simple to use/set up?

To setup: plug in, wait a few minutes, job done.

Simplest usage:

To record: press the guide button, scroll through the channels until you find the programme you want to record, press the record button - programme gets underlines in red in the EPG.

To view - press the lib (library) button, scroll down until you find the programme you want to watch, press play.

I've half filled my hard drive already I'm off to PC World over the weekend to buy the cable to put the dual record firmware on, and then next weekend I've got a little project to put a USB cable onto the box so I can plug it into the laptop, which should be exciting :idea:
