Dabsvalue twintuner 80gb hard-drive recorder £59.99

It's a refurb with 6 months warranty, but with the HDD and twin freeview tuners gotta be worth a punt!

  • That's not a DVD recorder, just a PVR.
  • Yep, sorry wasn't paying enough attention.

so it is.. hmm I've had a quick look and people seem to like it.. however we've already got a single tuner 40gb humax.. hmm.. my dad might be tempted but he'll be in bed and I bet this is gone by morning.

Reviews HERE seem to suggest its pretty hit and miss. Some report it to be good value and others seem to have machines that die on them after a few hours.

PVRs are quite technical pieces of kit. I would recommend ensuring you buy a reputable brand with good support. Humax for instance are excellent with a 2 year warranty. Also if you start to use one regularly the 80Gb disk will begin to fill pretty quick-OK if its for a second TV though.

I've used both the Humax sinbgle tuner and the Digihome. The DH has a more polished user interface than the Humax and the 2 tuners with picture in picture are a step forward (tho can't record 2 channels at once). The only missing feature is a text search on the program guide (the humax has this). I would def. recommend the DH if you're looking for a budget PVR.
