    Hi Shelly

I guess if you apply again at some point, you may be accepted, sometimes its luck of the draw, strange things do happen.

Pleased you have got back on your feet since discharge, its not an easy process to go through and circumstances can change for many of us once discharged so I wish you well.

Thank you Maizy, since my bankrupcy ended i have been lucky to secure a lot of shifts at work, i dont always get them but it helps. I am not bothered myself about credit cards, but sometimes people in life ask for them. Still i have my kalixa card, so thats something.

what a great position you are in with £2000 savings , thats a lot and alot of people have non , forget about the credit !! why dont you just keep saving and just spend money you have got ,

Nothing to do with wanting credit..... everything to do with the OP following a standard process of credit file clean-up, and taking on high rate credit cards to use, to bolster their credit scores.

If you read the credit-file clean-up stickies you will see the above is advised.

the proviso being, pay off each month, or else.

    The OP has been discharged...

The OP has no doubt sold off surplus goods to raise cash......common enough on this board...

Only items over a certain value are deemed as assets in a BR by the OR.

Worth studying the stickies at the top, learning more about BR, before posting??

Shelly, bet you are needing the holiday after all this, when are you going?

I'm trying to work out whether or not it will be possible to save enough to do something next year but with my car on its last legs I can't see it happening.

We do not go until February next year, we have done a few car boots which has helped save up, i thought it was rubbish but it made someones day, so thats good. At least if they ask for a credit card imprint my o/h will have one.Its nice that i have this new start, i have read so much on these forums and majority of people have helped. I am halfway through my clean up letters, hopefully over the next couple of days i should be finished them and then post. So fingers crossed, boring process though:)

If I do go away next year, I'd need to save somehow monthly, how does the OR view those savings? I guess holidays though are ok with the OR, they are allowed though and no one goes without saving for them so they must be ok. Were they ok with you going to Egypt Nov 2011? Or I guess they needn't know if they had ok'd your monthly SOA. With your Cyprus holiday this September too you are very blessed.

I think you have been very fortunate with your OR, it does seem some are far harsher than others. You managed to keep your car worth up to £2000 and the personal number plate for instance when so many fight for far less. I wish I had your OR that's for sure.

I love holidays too, and would sacrifice most things to have one of some sort but really need to keep a car on the road first. Looking forward to the day like you, when I am discharged and able to look forward to those things.

Your circumstances will be a lot better after you are discharged, as for Cyprus i am not going there, in fact i am not going anywhere this year.

A great way to make a few quid is to do a few car boot sales, i have gone from clutter to minimalist, and get rid of friends and neighbours rubbish as well.

I'd say look on the bright side - at least your OH now has a credit card so you both can use that if you want the protection of buying something on a credit card in the future.

Exactly thats what i am trying to say, also my o/h may need to hire a van, and as far as i know insist on a credit card imprint.

You are spot on, i just wanted to build my credit file up, that is all, i have no desire to get myself in this position again, there is a lot of good advice on these forums and i have been trying to get to grips with it, slowly but surely.
