    Morning Folks,

I managed another NSD yesterday, so three in a row!!!

The weather this week has been appalling; I am hoping it does not continue into the weekend. I have only managed a small amount of gardening over the last couple of weeks.

Hopefully this weekend I can get quite a lot done; although I need to strike a balance with other aspects of my life. I still have to do the following; hopefully I can do most of this at the weekend.

    1) Haircut
    2) Several trips to the tip to clear the build up of rubble in the garden
    3) Weather permitting I need to clear and dig an area for the raspberry border.
    4) I need to construct a gravel path along the raised beds.
I need to start sowing some seeds; mainly lettuce to start in heated propagtors.

    Fingers crossed

    Hi Folks,

I have finally updated my blog with pictures if anybody wants to have a look

    http://greenfingerjourney.blogspot.co.uk/

I was in the garden yesterday, but did not do a great deal; I am quite tired today, so not going to do much. However, that might have something to do with doing a 11k run this morning. It was the hardest yet and I really had to push myself.

I did managed to take some stuff to the tip today after breakfast to try and declutter the garden. I might try and get out later and sow some seeds.

I still have to get the raised bed for the raspberry's built, but hopefully this is where the fun starts and I can start growing things.

I did not manage a NSD yesterday as I had to get my haircut, lets hope I can get a few next week.

    Hi Folks,

Well I managed another NSD yesterday, so pleased with that.

As I mentioned in my previous post I did not get as much gardening as I wanted to over the weekend; to make matters worse, when I got home from work last night my 4 raspberry plants and blueberry plant had arrived. Looks like it could be a busy weekend again. lol

It will not be a NSD today as I am off out tonight to catch up with some friends. We are going to a quiz night; however, I will be on the soft drinks as I gave up alcohol for lent.

The running and dieting is paying off though, I lost another 2lbs last week and I have lost 14lbs overall in the last 6 weeks.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but my guess is, you're not going to be doing too much gardening, this weekend?

Have you tried indoor gardening? :rotfl:

    (preparation and all that) :)

    Hi Ani,

Whatever gave you that idea. Got up this morning and the temp was 1C, however with the wind chill it was even colder. Anyway my small greenhouse had blown over during the night and my strawberry plants had crashed everywhere.

I went out this morning for 1hr and cleaned up the mess and had to repot 8 of the 12 strawberry plants. I have now put some weights on the bottom of the greenhouse to stop it from toppling over. By the time I was fiished I could not feel my hands. So I came in and called it a day.
I went to B and Q and bought some acidic compost for potting my Blueberry plant in and I also bought some pots for my raspberry canes as I will have to 'heel' them in for a couple of weeks. Here is hoping the easter weekend weather is good, but the forecast does not look great.

What I need is an indestructable glass house, then I could do some indoor gardening.

    Hi mf,

There isn't anything such as indestructible, around here.

I've looked at the 'cheaper end' greenhouses, but it's just a waste of money. They wouldn't last 5 minutes, around here. :(

Roll on the day i can afford a wooden garden shed, which is sometime, never. :o

I think with the blizzard chill factor, it's currently somewhere around -40 to -50 degrees C. Ah, supposedly -4 dropping to -5, all week. Could be due another cold weather payment?

    Whatever, it's blimmin freezing

Love your thread. So much of it resonates with how I'm feeling this past year or so. The need to live a simpler, less wasteful life. I'm finding more and more folk are saying how much they miss community spirit. I'm sure it may not have been as rosy as we think but it sure was a lot better than not knowing your neighbour like now.

Hi Angelaf, welcome, glad you could drop by.

The weather has been poor the last few weeks which does get me down when I cant get into the garden, as I still have loads to do.

However, I did get out for an hour today and got blown around. I had to get my potatoes in sacks and I had to 'heel-in' my raspberry plants. That is done so pleased with that.

I also went for a 10k run this morning and managed under 1hr, I did it in 57:49, so really pleased with that.

    Hi Folks,

Not posted for a while as not a great deal to report.

The garden is slowly coming along. The strawberries are still in their pots in the mini-greenhouse; it has not blown over again, as I have tied it down!!!! The strawberries are doing ok, all 12 plants have some nice new green leaves. I will plant them into the ground in the a week or so. I will not have any strawberries this year as I will remove the flowers the first year, so I get a bumper crop of strawberries next year.

The rhubarbs are in the ground and are starting to grow nicely; although everybody keeps telling me they will grow anywhere!!!

The raspberries are still in the pots, 'heeled-in', I am hoping to get them in the ground in the next week or so. I am half way through building the raspberry border.

The potaotes are the sacks, I have 3 sacks; no growth yet though, fingers crossed.

I have also sown some seeds in my heated propagators on my bedroom windowsill.

I have sown Tomatoes, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Beetroot, leek, Peas and Managetout so far.

The broccoli and Cauliflower have already germinated nicely

This week I will try and get in the garden, weather permitting of course, and start constructing my pea frame and wigwams!!!!

I also need sow some lettuce, spring onions in modules. But I also need to sow red onions and normal onions directly into the ground along with the radishes.

On the money point of view, my car payments have finished now, so hopefully I can put more towards debts or a new central heating system. I had my car MOT a few weeks back, it was not as bad as I thought but it was a few hundered quid, but it is 5 years old now and is getting to the point were things needed doing.

In terms of the training, it is still going well. I have still not beaten my time of 57:49 for the 10k, but I am doing ok. I have lost 18lbs so far as well.
