Is it still acceptable to commute to work wearing trainers??

I pretty much get changed at work in the morning.
I commute by scooter, it's not a bright idea to wear skirts and heels on one of those!Emergency savings: 4600

I cycle to work and apart from my clean clothes, everything else is left at work. I have spare coats, about 6 pairs of shoes/sandals, handbags...0

Depending upon the type of job you're doing i don't even think you need change into 'heels' when you get to work. If you had dark trainers and you weren't meeting customers, as others have said your feet will be under your desk most of the day.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Just a different view on this. I used to wear trainers to and from work however since i got a pair of fold up ballet pumps I have never worn trainers again.
Come in a nice little bag and a plus point they fit in my handbag and they are a gawd send after a night out too.0 -
I wear trainers for walking to work and don't really see an issue with it - although one of my colleagues tried to pull me up on it yesterday.
We are a casual/dress down work environment, but typically I like to wear dresses - nothing too flashy but just things I feel comfortable and happy in. This person criticised me for wearing the dresses with trainers on my walk (I change into heels at work) and proceeded to lecture me how I should wear jeans and flat shoes to work in the future - all said in front of an entire office.
As this person has a significant reputation for being a bit of a cow...both to peoples faces and behind their backs...I don't hold much stock in her comments. However, I have resolved to wear a dress/skirt every day this week now
I don't see an issue in wearing trainers - I do much prefer heels but they kill my feet to walk the 30 minutes each day with them. It's just more practical0 -

Well she sounds like an idiot:) seriously who died and made her Anna Wintour?0 -
I walk to work wearing trainers and t-shirt (and trousers too obviously!
:rotfl:), then change into shoes and a blouse in the toilets before going into the office. Works for me

OP, you have a choice -
Dress in heels, wear them out within weeks, break an ankle, screw up your feet, spend a fortune on bus fares where you get to stand in a confined space with smelly people, schoolchildren and pensioners after waiting 45 minutes in the rain for one to come along in the first place, and fit in with your friends' ideas of what being a [strike]woman[/strike] girl entails;
Or walk to work in half the time, with healthy feet, a better figure, a better mood and wear work shoes that last longer and look better. Oh, and won't cripple you to the point of being unable to walk anywhere ever again.
I can't wear heels. I can't wear most flat shoes either. I used to before I was diagnosed with RA - loved big, gothy shoes. When I was out, not at work.
But if I were able to do so now, I certainly wouldn't be schlepping down the road at ten past eight in the morning looking like I woke up in somebody else's bed. I would be wearing clean, probably brand new, trainers on the way to work and then wearing a far more expensive, lovely pair of heels in the office, knowing they were going to last me for more than a fortnight before needing replacing/reheeling.
In any case, in a number of the places I have worked, the women wearing the big stiletto heels have acquired an air of being a) the office bimbo b) worth a try at the office party as she wears stuff that looks like she's up for it or c) the one who flirts with the boss to get promotion.
As it appears that your friends are so concerned about what other people think of them, it would be strange that they are happy with those opinions as well.
Get better quality heels, a new pair of trainers with a sturdy bag to keep them in, and stuff what those silly females say.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

I used to walk to work in trainers or very low flats, and then change once I got in, I almost broke my ankle walking in heels. Was very bad.0
