It'll probably take the FOS months (perhaps 10-12) to get round to looking at the claim due to the huge backlog they have with other PPI claims already submitted.
If the OP sorts matters out by going direct to the company before the FOS get around to investigating, that is surely a good thing.
But as 2 months have already passed since the OP has complained, and no resolution is yet forthcoming, the OP should not delay further in taking the matter to the FOS and 'get in the queue' so to say.0 -

My point was that, here and elsewhere, you have been advising people to refer their complaint to FOS and also write back to their lenders.
If they refer to FOS, all correspondence between the Bank and the complainant will cease until the Ombudsman has adjudicated, so any further letters to the Bank would therefore go unanswered.0 -

Many regard this as six months their complaint could already have been in the Ombudsman queue.

yeh i can see that point too, suppose it could be worth the shot as you said it depends on each claim. I'm waiting for them to reply in the hope they reconsider as i supplied more evidence - heres hoping!0 -
Had a letter back from Cap One after sending in the MSE complaint form.
They sent what looks like the standard reply letter and a photocopy of the postal application form done at the time ( I had ticked the box to enrol to the PP scheme ) Is it likely I will have any luck with this going through the FOS to reclaim.?? Look forward to any help from anyone ! Vman.0 -
A postal application is done of your own volition without the intervention (advice) of Bank staff. This is deemed a "non-advised" sale, a term they probably used in your rejection letter.

Have recieved what appears to be the standard MBNA "final response" regarding my PPI claim. Card was issued in 1997 and as far as i was aware I hadn't ticked box for PPI. Work for NHS so sick benefits and Redundancy would be more than covered. Is it worth trying again with them or emailing CEO or others, or do i just go straight to the Ombudsman now ?
Another quick question is regarding the same with Barclaycard. I received a letter back from them but it asked me to fill in a questionnaire, which is exactly the same as the one i sent them. Is this their standard respnse too, and did they even bother reading what i sent ?
Hi, yes I got the same response from MBNA myself, so I went directly then to the Financial Ombudsman who took over, last week I received a letter from the FO stating that MBNA will be contacting me shortly with an offer of compensation, so my advice is to contact the FO as soon as you get a rejection letter, as the FO cannot get involved until the customer has contacted the lender first, go for it, I did and will now get compensation for misseling of ppi, I was the same as you no need for ppi as I would have been paid sick pay and redundany pay from the company I was working for at the time.:)0
