MBNA Rejection

Have recieved what appears to be the standard MBNA "final response" regarding my PPI claim. Card was issued in 1997 and as far as i was aware I hadn't ticked box for PPI. Work for NHS so sick benefits and Redundancy would be more than covered. Is it worth trying again with them or emailing CEO or others, or do i just go straight to the Ombudsman now ?

Another quick question is regarding the same with Barclaycard. I received a letter back from them but it asked me to fill in a questionnaire, which is exactly the same as the one i sent them. Is this their standard respnse too, and did they even bother reading what i sent ?

Regarding the MBNA claim, you could do any of the three options you suggest, any combination of two of the threee, or even all three at the same time :)

Regarding the Barclaycard claim, I'm sorry I don't know if they read your claim. They probably did as they have responded to you asking for more information, but who knows?
You could try asking them, but I think your efforts would probably be better spent supplying the information they ask for, even if you have supplied it previously.

    hi,

you haven't really said why you were mis-sold, working for the NHS isn't really a reason, as your policy would still have paid out had you been made redundant (usually) i think you might need a stronger reason to get anywhere with it

I didn't mean this was the reason, just stating that rundundancy and sick pay would be covered. The reason is that i wasn't aware of ticking this box, was a long time ago but can't be 100% sure, and that I am now under the impression from reading others experiences that this may have been pre ticked at the time i applied. just looking for tips from others with the same kind of experiences thats all

    hi,

we need th reasons to be able to help you thats all, if it was pre ticked then this is bad i believe. however unless you can prove it i don't think theres much hope. you could request a SAR and see if they have the original form

thanks. Re the Barclaycard claim, i did supply the information on the same form that they sent me a blank one of that's what i'm trying to say. They didn't specifically ask for more information just asked me to fill the for in, as i allready had.

Please stop suggesting this. If the OP goes to FOS, then all contact with the Bank stops until the Ombudsman adjudicates. So you can't do all the options at the same time at all.

cheers. It was that long ago that i can't be sure, however i did notice that others who have had the same letter said they also were sent a copy of their original applications. So far i don't have this. I appreciate your help thanks

thats why I'm waiting for my bank to respond to my last letter, there way past the 8 week deadline, but once i send that letter to the FOS i know I'm in for a 12 month wait minimum. I'm giving them to the end of July then i will take it to the FOS as i will be getting near the 6 month deadline from their last letter. i see the FOS as a last resort rather than the next step

It obviously depends on the individual circumstances. If you believe you may be able to convince your Bank to re-consider, then you have six months in which to do that before your option to refer your complaint to FOS expires.
Many regard this as six months their complaint could already have been in the Ombudsman queue.
Again, it depends on the complaint and your level of patience.
