In terms of looking pale/washed out in photos, check the foundation you are using doesn't contain any SPF as you will get whats known as 'flashback'. I'm sure if you speak to the assistants on the make-up counters they'd be able to advise.

Also I'd recommend youtube videos if you're doing your own make-up. There are some really good tutorials on them - I'd suggest Lisa Eldridge and the Pixiwoo sisters to start with.

I have to wear SPF every day as I have pale skin and burn very easily. If it is a dry day we will be having our drinks reception outside, so I will need to be wearing SPF. So many foundations contain SPF these days that some of them must photograph ok at least. Maybe I need to experiment and see if wearing a primer with SPF and then non-SPF foundation will still give flashback?
I know touch eclat has light reflecting pigments in it which can come out white in photographs, so I think light reflecting makeup is also something to avoid. Ach this is such a minefield!

Hmmm well if your pictures are getting taken outside then I imagine the photographer wouldn't be using the flash anyway so no problem there. Thing is when you move indoors and it goes dark no doubt guests would take photos with the flash on! Difficult!

Sorry I can't be more help, I'm no expert but I think titanium dioxide (TiO2) and zinc oxides (ZnO) are the offending ingredients to look out for.

:rotfl: Am I the only one that doesn't mind looking pale and 'washed out'? The ghost look is my standard look - but I prefer the phrase 'English Rose'. I wear Mac's Studio fix foundation and yep when taken with a flash (with a proper DSLR camera) I do look very pale. But it is a look I'm quite partial too. (I wear Mac's NC15 so that kinda shows just how pale I am naturally).

Lauren Luke does some amazing tutorials on you tube on just about every make up look. She does amazing smokey eyes from subtle ones to full on smouldering eyes for nights out too.

I would watch the ones that apply to you for the look you are going for then the money you would spend on the make up artist go to a good beauty counter and get some advice on which make up would suit your skin tone and do the make up yourself.

Have a practice as much as you can in the weeks leading up and have your eyelashes etc done professionally.

This is what happened to us.
I wore YSL Touche eclait & foundation with SPF, and look fine in all of the photos, because none were taken with a flash.
No reverse panda eyes, no trancelucient skin (despite being pale), no worries!

I don't wear very much make up at all, and have told the person doing mine that I want something that covers up blemishes yet makes me look like me, as silly as that sounds! But my fianc! would be horrified if I turned up with loads on! Plus I think it just feels so uncomfortable. Maybe get a friend to experiment, or go round the counters in department stores and see the different advice they have to offer?
